Job description

General Job Title: Wordings Analyst Division: First Party (Property) Reports To: As per Beazley’s organisation chart Key Relationships: Head of First Party Wordings, underwriters, claims staff, other staff and brokers. Job Summary To review, agree and draft contract wordings across all First Party lines of business which includes Commercial Property, Jewellery, Fine Art Specie, Delegated Authority, Contingency, Political Violence, Personal Accident, Marine and Aviation. To communicate and work with all First Party Underwriters and other key relationships to the extent required by Head of First Party Wordings. Key Responsibilities Review and administer a quality control on all slips and wordings written in the Property Group and other teams within First Party lines of business, as requested. Review consumer contracts ensuring compliance with latest consumer legislation. Where required complete Contract Certainty, Tax and Regulatory checks on all slips written in Property Group. Where required monitor and chase for receipt of outstanding Wordings and other documentation from brokers. Where required attend and contribute to Conduct Review Group meetings. Advise Underwriters on the merits/demerits on forms/clauses used on slips. Develop network opportunities across the business, to identify best practice and develop standardised guidelines to take advantage of wordings experience in formalising contracts. Liaise with Brokers and monitor slips and wordings, which are returned to brokers for changes. Monitor and react to such Legal and Legislative developments that affect the Company’s and the Department’s environment. Educate and train others on all technical, Legal and Legislative matters e.g. Underwriting /Claims staff. Develop a greater knowledge of Wordings and of the business. Administrative functions including maintenance of a computer environment database for Policy Wordings as required. Ensure that all wordings that come within the conduct Risk arena are compliant with the latest Conduct Risk legislation and regulatory requirements. Where required complete bi-annual audit of wordings, ensuring compliant with RAG document for respective line of business. Drafting and review of wordings in all relevant areas of the business. This may include, amongst others, Beazley’s underwriting control standards, Beazley’s claims control standards, other Beazley standards and customer relationship management. Carry out additional responsibilities as individually notified, either through your objectives or through the learning management system. These may include membership of any Beazley committees or working groups. Personal Specification Education and Qualifications Minimum A Level’s in English Literature and English Language Professional qualifications eg ACII or working towards Skills and Abilities Proven ability to draft wordings and clauses Reading of contracts with attention to detail Ability to negotiate Understanding of wordings across the market for relevant lines of business Accurate and numerate Able to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing The ability to manage time, meet deadlines and prioritise Computer skills – good working knowledge of MS Office and Excel skills Team worker as well as working on own initiative Knowledge and Experience Proven experience in insurance industry Extended knowledge of wordings/ regulatory guidelines General commercial and financial knowledge Aptitude and Disposition Self-motivated, flexible and enthusiastic Professional approach to successfully interact with managers/colleagues/external suppliers Diplomatic Competencies Analytical thinking Conceptual thinking Information seeking Customer focus Team working Initiative
