GDIT has an opportunity for a System Administrator supporting U.S. Army Europe and Africa on our Enterprise Mission Information Technology Services II (EMITS II) program in Wiesbaden, Germany. The EMITS II program is seeking a highly skilled and broadly experienced System Administrator to manage, secure, and optimize USAREUR-AF’s Mission Partner Network (MPN) IT infrastructure. This role requires a generalist capable of handling everything from routine hardware maintenance and user support to complex data integrations, on-premises Cloud operations and maintenance and enterprise software/services deployment, and strict security compliance in support of critical operations.
MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
System & Server Administration
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux/Unix server environments. Manage application installations and administration.
Data Integration & Federation
- Responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust data pipelines that consolidate disparate mission and enterprise data into centralized, accessible systems.
Security & Compliance
- Ensure systems comply with strict security standards (e.g., DISA STIGs, Risk Management Framework). Perform routine security audits, patch management, and system backups.
Cloud & Automation
- Assist in on-premises cloud deployments and write automated scripts (PowerShell, Python, Bash) to streamline routine administrative tasks.
Technical Support
- Act as Tier III escalation point for complex hardware and software troubleshooting. Maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Required Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent operational experience).
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of broad IT experience acting as a System Administrator in enterprise or government environments.
- Certifications: Must hold a DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+, CCNA Security).
- Operating Systems: Proven expertise in both Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) and Enterprise Linux (Red Hat/Ubuntu).
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with administration of Windows Server and Linux Server systems
- Experience with automated deployment and configuration management tools (Ansible, SCCM).
- Familiarity with SAN/NAS storage architectures.
- Familiarity with virtualization systems such as VMware vSphere and containerization orchestration systems such as Kubernetes
