Job description
his position will be located in Phoenix, AZ (Deer Valley) within the Flight Controls Center of Excellence (FCCoE). The FCCoE develops state of art flight controls for commercial, business and regional aircraft. The desired candidate will provide technical contributions as an individual to the Maintenance Systems Engineering team for the Area Health Monitoring (AHM) and Primary Flight Maintenance (PF-MAINT) functions of the B787 Fly-by-wire flight control system. The AHM and PF-MAINT functions provide various test and fault isolation capabilities relative to the Flight Controls Electronics on the B787 aircraft.
The desired candidate will contribute to a team of systems engineers responsible for the overall systems engineering activities and products for the AHM and PF-MAINT function.
Responsibilities include:
• Understanding customer requirements.
• Developing and maintaining the AHM and PF-MAINT system / software requirements.
• Ability to produce software using MATLAB models; work in conjunction with engineers to develop sound logic that supports maintenance functionality for the B787 Flight Controls system.
• Evaluate existing logic as required when problems arise. This requires researching logic across partitions and throughout the flight control electronics system to locate system faults.
• Supporting the AHM and PF-MAINT software development team.
• Supporting the AHM and PF-MAINT software verification team.
• Checkout and verification of the AHM and PF-MAINT functions in the laboratory.
• Investigation and review of customer issues and desired enhancements.
The individual will perform these activities in the very near term for the flight test and certification project phases of the B787 aircraft.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelors of Science degree in an Engineering discipline.
• 3-5 years of directly related experience (avionics or systems engineering experience minimum; MS degree can substitute for 2 years experience).
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
Additional Desired Qualifications:
• Experience in writing and verification of high level software requirements.
• Requires the ability to define, investigate and solve complex technical problems within schedule, budget and resource constraints.
• Must be familiar with systems engineering processes.
• Must be comfortable working with hardware and software systems in a lab environment.
• Previous experience in developing avionics, displays or flight control systems is desired.
• Requires good oral and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a global team environment.
