Overview TRC is seeking a Geospatial Technical Director to join our Intelligent Grid Solutions (IGS) business unit. This Director-level leader will drive growth in TRC’s geospatial and data capabilities that help clients modernize their networks, improve asset intelligence, and accelerate digital transformation. The Technical Director will work with the Practice Lead to expand TRC’s Geospatial Solutions business through client engagement, practice development, and strong partnerships with leading software and technology providers. This is a pivotal role for TRC’s Intelligent Grid organization, combining business development, delivery excellence, and strategic leadership to strengthen TRC’s position as a market leader in utility GIS and asset data management. Responsibilities Revenue Generation & Client Leadership – Supports business growth and client success within the Geospatial Solutions practice: Client Relationship & Portfolio Account Management : Build and maintain long-term, strategic relationships with key clients; act as a trusted advisor on geospatial and digital transformation initiatives. Sales and Business Development : Identify, qualify, track and secure new opportunities. Collaborate with the Enterprise Sales team and delivery leadership across TRC to drive the pipeline and close strategic contracts. Proposal Leadership and Solutioning: Lead or oversee proposal development and RFP responses, defining win themes, offerings and pricing strategies that reflect TRC’s differentiated value. Ensure all proposals align with TRC’s commercial governance standards. Delivery Quality Assurance & Customer Satisfaction : Drive excellence in delivery quality, responsiveness, and client satisfaction across all engagements. P&L Ownership – Owns the financial performance of the Geospatial Solutions portfolio subset. Financial & Business Accountability : Meet or exceed the annual growth and profitability targets of the overall portfolio. Forecasting Governance: Own accurate monthly pipeline and backlog forecasts that inform near- and long-term resource planning, hiring, and investment decisions. Project Financial Oversight – Ensure excellence in contract management, cost control, and project execution to achieve scope, schedule, and budget commitments. Practice Strategy & Development – Support the Geospatial Solutions Practice Lead to shape and grow the Geospatial Solutions practice to support TRC’s long-term digital strategy: Growth Strategy: D evelop, operationalize, and execute the practice-level strategic plan aligned with TRC’s Intelligent Grid Solutions growth priorities, including account, offering, partnership and resource planning strategies. Offerings and Collateral Development: Define and develop industry-relevant offerings, delivery models, and sales collateral; contribute to strategic marketing plans and campaigns. Market & Thought Leadership: Represent TRC at industry events, conferences, and media outlets. Sponsor or contribute to thought leadership pieces published via social media, industry publications, or speaking engagements. Delivery Methodology Development: Oversee the creation and continuous improvement of delivery methodologies that align with TRC standards and reinforce the practice’s differentiated value. Partner Relationships: Lead strategic relationships with key technology partners and solution providers that enable practice growth and innovation. Team Development: Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development to senior consulting and delivery resources within the practice. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Growth of Geospatial Solutions - Year-over-year increases in bookings, revenue, and strategic accounts. Customer satisfaction and Referenceability - Positive client feedback, repeat business, and market reputation. Portfolio profitability – Achievement of targeted gross margin and operating contribution goals for Geospatial Solutions Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, Management, a related field or equivalent working experience. Extensive experience (typically 15+ years) in technical organizations leading a variety of technical projects, with a significant portion in leadership or management roles. Proven track record of strategic planning and aligning technical initiatives with business objectives. Financial acumen and experience in budget management. Strong technical skills in relevant programming languages, frameworks, and development tools. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated success in managing and delivering large-scale technical projects and programs. Strategic thinker with the ability to make decisions in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Commitment to continuous learning and staying at the forefront of industry trends Ability to multi-task across projects, business development and team strategy a must. A demonstrated desire and work ethic to build a practice from the ground up in the dynamic and challenging environment of utilities. Ability to work permanently in the United States without sponsorship. Ability to travel up from 30% is required.
