Job description

Job Title: VMO – Finance and Budgeting Analyst

Location: Hyderabad, India

Job Summary: The VMO Analyst – Finance & Budgeting Support plays a key role in partnering with Finance, IT, and Procurement to drive data-informed decision-making around supplier spend, project budgeting, and forecasting. This position supports the Vendor Management Office by delivering insights through financial modeling, spend analysis, and dashboard development to support leadership visibility and governance.

The candidate must be willing to work on site 4 days a week in Hyderabad. Expect some weekly meetings to be in the US Central time zone.

Key Responsibilities:

Finance & Budget Partnership:

  • Collaborate closely with Finance teams to align vendor spend (actual and forecast)  with departmental budgets and corporate financial goals.
  • Support month-end and quarter-end budget reconciliation processes, including accruals and variance analysis.
  • Track actuals vs. forecasted spend across supplier contracts and service categories.

Forecasting & Budget Management:   

  • Assist in the development of multi-quarter supplier spend forecasts in coordination with Finance, Contract Management, and Project teams.
  • Maintain dynamic budget templates to track on going changes across vendors and projects.
  • Identify trends or deviation in vendor spend to proactively inform budget planning.

Financial Analysis & Visualization:

  • Analyze large sets of financial and supplier data to identify insights related to tail spend, savings opportunities, contract utilization, and / or risks.
  • Conduct scenario modeling to support renegotiations, sourcing decisions, or contract extensions.

Executive Dashboard Development:

  • Build, maintain, and enhance dashboards summarizing supplier spend, forecasted expenditures and project financials (related to 3rd party spend) for executive audiences.
  • Use tools like Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or Excel to provide clear and visually impactful reporting.
  • Deliver monthly / quarterly executive summaries with actionable insights for Mattel Leadership.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Business, finance, Data Analytics Accounting, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial analysis,  FP&A, procurement finance, or vendor operation.  Experience in IT or professional services procurement is a plus.
  • Experience in a Vendor Management Office or working with procurement/legal/IT on licensing matters is highly desirable.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of IT Procurement, inclusive of Professional Services and Software.
  • Familiarity with contract language.
  • High attention to detail in financial reporting and VMO metrics.
  • Strong project management, coordination, and documentation skills.
  • Proven experience building actionable dashboards and reporting where inputs come from multiple sources in the environment.

Tools & Systems:

  • Experience with Data analysis tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Excel).
  • Proficiency in collaboration tools (e.g., SharePoint, Teams, PowerPoint).

Cultural Awareness: Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and manage teams across different time zones.

Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret and cross-reference large datasets and licensing entitlements.

Negotiation Awareness: Understanding how audit outcomes impact vendor relationships and contract negotiations.

Risk Management: Ability to assess, communicate, and mitigate audit risks effectively.

Stakeholder Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially under time-sensitive audit scrutiny.

Discretion & Integrity: Must handle sensitive vendor communications and legal matters with the utmost confidentiality.
