Job description
This position offers a base hourly range of $23.72 - $43.14 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications, plus bonus based on company performance. OVERVIEW Ensure and verify that foods produced/assembled and distributed through Sheetz Distribution Services adhere to established high food safety & quality standards through implementation of food safety and quality assurance programs. RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned) 1. Recommend and establish food safety and quality procedures via written programs that will be implemented in Sheetz Distribution Services. 2. Conduct implementation, training, verification and validation of critical food safety programs to comply with company food safety & quality standards as well as government regulations. 3. Assist in investigating complaints pertaining to product in stores that have been manufactured and/or distributed through Sheetz Distribution Services. 4. Collect environmental, product, and other samples to conduct chemical and/or microbiological testing to investigate, collect data, as well as ensure products and ingredients meet written specifications as appropriate or necessary. 5. Conduct appropriate follow-up procedures when standards are not met 6. Prepare appropriate schedules for testing – microbiological and otherwise. 7. Ensure FSQA collected data and testing verification is completed correctly, maintained appropriately and reports are prepared in a timely manner. 8. Provide appropriate updates and consistently communicate with FSQA department leadership and SDS Management teams as needed. 9. Act as facility backup to department leadership as needed, including meeting minimum training and competency requirements to serve as backup. 10. Maintain laboratory in an organized and sanitary condition while maintaining and practicing good laboratory practices. 11. Assist in conducting monthly self-inspections of the SDS Facilities. QUALIFICATIONS (Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience may be considered) Education • Associate’s degree in related field or equivalent certifications required. • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent preferred. Preferred Experience • Minimum 2 years’ experience in food safety or related field required. • Minimum 1 year in a laboratory environment required. • Previous exposure to microbiological laboratory practices required. Licenses/Certifications (Required within 1 year of employment) • ANSI Accredited Food Protection Manager Certification • Basic HACCP Certification • Advanced HACCP Certification • Seafood HACCP Certification • FSPCA Preventive Controls Qualified Individual Tools & Equipment • General Office Equipment • Hand tools (including but not limited to measuring devices, etc.) • Lab testing equipment (including but not limited to pH Meter, Aw Meter, Moisture Analyzer, Microbiological Testing Equipment) ACCOMMODATIONS Sheetz is committed to the full inclusion of all qualified individuals.
