The Help Desk Technician I performs a variety of functions to assure quality of operations throughout Whitman Hospital and Medical Clinics, including support of the main campus location as well as outlying clinic support.  Specific areas of responsibility include support of hardware, software, communications, cabling, general and specialized equipment, and may also include support of electrical and electronic installation and troubleshooting.

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Performance Standards

  • Provides tier I technical support through the IS department’s help desk system.

  • Maintains and troubleshoots systems to include, but not be limited to: security, nurse call, fire alarm, communications systems, automated office equipment, video systems, clock systems, radios, phone systems and phones, etc.

  • Collaborates with the Help Desk Technician II, Help Desk Technician Lead, and Manager of Information Systems on special projects and process improvements.

  • Performs other maintenance tasks as assigned and as needed according to workload of facility. 

  • Works in conjunction with Manager of Information Systems and Help Desk Technician Lead to read and interpret engineer and architect drawings to advise on impacts of decisions being pondered for future or current work as it relates to areas of expertise.

  • Works with Manager of Information Systems and Help Desk Technician Lead on maintenance of computers, printers, faxes, networking equipment and other IS equipment as needed.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Associate degree in Information Technology or two (2) years of related IT or IS help desk experience.

  • A current unrestricted driver’s license.

  • Understanding simple mathematical calculations.

Preferred

  • TIAA+, CCNA, Network+, CISSP, MCSE or PDC.

  • Experience with EHR systems, Active Directory, and enterprise-level support environments.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position is primarily worked in a clinical and office environment. The position will require the ability to lift, and carry, up to 50 pounds and push or pull over 50 pounds. The position will require bending, twisting, squatting, reaching, reaching overhead, sitting and standing frequently. Occasionally the position requires climbing, kneeling and crawling. The position requires continuous finger dexterity and fine manipulation. All basic life functions such as hearing, seeing, speaking, standing and walking are required.

Actual pay offered will vary based on years of experience.
