We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to join our team in Costa Rica. The selected candidate will be responsible for the proper processing of accounting transactions in Epicor, gives support to Accounting Manager and Supervisor in all activities related to the accounting cycle, supports in all activities related to finance analysis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Support the Accounting Manager in executing the full accounting cycle, including accounts payable and general accounting activities.
  • Process and maintain accounts payable transactions in Epicor, IDC, and DocStar, ensuring accurate digital file management and recordkeeping.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts with corresponding subledgers and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Monitor accounts payable transactions, investigate exceptions, and resolve issues through supplier statement reviews and reporting.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, buyers, and warehouse teams to resolve accounts payable and invoicing issues.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing required financial documentation and resolving audit findings.
  • Support weekly cash flow preparation and monitor prepaid account balances.
  • Perform weekly and monthly bank reconciliations for key company accounts.
  • Prepare supplier payments, process electronic banking transactions, and ensure accurate ERP system entries.
  • Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with IAS, IFRS, US GAAP, and corporate accounting standards.
  • Support budget preparation and assist in monitoring budget performance and execution.
  • Provide cross-functional support to other accounting activities and projects as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor´s degree in Administration, Finance, Accounting or related area.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in financial/accounting areas.
  • Certified CPI (Certified Accountant by the Colegio de Contadores Privados de Costa Rica).
  • Knowledge of the complete accounting cycle.
  • Intermediate English (B1/B2) preferred, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively through email, chat, and other written communication channels.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting (Desirable).

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in computer applications, including ERP systems, spreadsheets, word processing, email, and standard business software such as Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of applicable local regulations and accounting standards, including US GAAP, IAS, and IFRS preferred.
  • Familiarity with quality and regulatory standards such as FDA, ISO, and CE Mark is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams at all levels.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret procedures and apply instructions accurately.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality of financial information.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and committed to delivering results efficiently and accurately.
