Overview Catholic Health is seeking a dynamic physician executive to join the organization as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for St. Charles Hospital. As part of Catholic Health’s continued growth, effective July 1, 2026, St. Charles Hospital will be operated as a campus of Good Samaritan University Hospital. St. Charles is renowned for its outstanding customer service and scored as one of the top hospitals on Long Island in the delivery of high-quality care. This non-profit hospital features three centers of excellence: Maternal/Child services, Orthopedics and Rehabilitation. St. Charles also offers services in general surgery, colon/rectal surgery, bariatric surgery, neurosurgery, ENT, pediatrics, diagnostic imaging, emergency medicine, epilepsy, stroke care, Female Pelvic Floor Disorders Center, and a nationally accredited Sleep Disorders Center. Job Details Chief Medical Officer Responsibilities: · Developing innovative programs that will ensure that the Medical Center is both the physicians' primary and preferred place to practice · Ensuring care delivered by participating physicians and providers meet the highest standard for quality, timeliness and appropriateness · Providing clinical oversight for all performance improvement, utilization management, and quality management activities · Collaborating with senior management to develop new clinical programs · Ensuring compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards, including but not limited to, The Joint Commission, DOH, CMC, OMH, OASAS and New York State (IPRO) · Developing a comprehensive physician recruitment and retention strategy · Responsible for medical staff relationships and medical staff committee participation · Participating in business development activities as it relates to services, sites & service line strategies · Educating, supervising and monitoring performance of the medical staff · Prepare and be responsible for developing and maintaining coverage schedule Chief Medical Officer Requirements: Successful candidate will have an active unrestricted MD or DO License in NYS, be Board Certified in specialty, actively practicing medicine, and possess 10 years' experience in a healthcare delivery system which includes at least 5 years in a progressively responsible leadership role. Knowledge of industry regulations, including Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial HMO's will be expected. Salary Range USD $385,000.00 - USD $550,000.00 /Yr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
