Job description
We are seeking a skilled Principal Electrical Engineer to join our growing team - role can be based in Wellington or Christchurch or Auckland
Working with us means that you’ll bring your technical design capabilities to work on exciting and complex projects that are shaping the energy market across the ANZ region. We work with key clients in electrical distribution and transmission space and with opportunities to support our Australian Energy team, you’ll contribute to projects nationally and internally.
In this role you will provide technical expertise and leadership in the assessment and strategic planning of water supply and sewerage networks to manage growth, compliance, network performance, and renewals. Your work will include master planning, options assessments, feasibility studies, and business case preparation, while supporting the growth of the team through active business development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Detailed design of electrical networks. This could be in either Transmission or Distribution.
- Ensure engineering calculations, studies, and technical assessments are completed to a high standard to support substation development, asset upgrades and replacements, and distributed generation connections
- Developing and maintaining AutoCAD and Revit models for substation layouts, equipment arrangements, and associated building services.
- Project scoping, estimating and ability to support on-going project management and delivery.
- Collaborating in a team environment, while learning to work efficiently and autonomously on allocated tasks.
- Proactively working with our Australian team of over 100 T&D engineers to deliver high quality work for our clients and local multidisciplinary teams to support a whole of project delivery.
- Helping to support and grow the NZ Energy offering reporting to the Director for Energy to help steer strategy, business needs and staff requirements.
About You
You are a recognised industry professional with a strong background within the Energy industry in Aotearoa. You’re looking for the next step in your carer and are keen to join a high performing team and ambitious, growing business.
Ideally you'll bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering (Washington Accord mandatory)
- Chartered Status (CPEng, RPEQ or equivalent)
- 15+ years of experience
- Experience in Substation or Transmission Lines or Distribution
- Demonstrated experience in delivering overhead or underground distribution network designs
- Network of clients/contacts within the industry
- Proficiency with using design programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, NEARA, PLS CADD or similar is essential.
- Effective communication skills with ability to work with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to travel as required
