The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

Administers physical therapy treatments following a Physical Therapist’s evaluation. Monitors and documents patient’s progress. May supervise and direct the activities of a Physical Therapy Aide.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Performs exercise programs, including passive range of motion, active and resistive exercises.  Administers various physical therapy modalities under the direction of a Physical Therapist.  Participates in conferences to assist in devising and modifying comprehensive care plans and assists in the evaluation of patients and discussion of treatment programs.
  • Instructs patients in functional activities, including bed mobility activities, transfer training, gait training and other activities of daily living.  Instructs patients’ families in exercises and treatment and attends family conferences as directed.
  • Prepares, sets up, cleans and maintains treatment area and equipment.  Observes safety precautions regarding all phases of treatment.  Takes inventory and monitors supplies.
  • Documents patients’ progress and responses to treatment in the medical record.
  • Keeps abreast of issues and changes in the field by reading and attending professional meetings and seminars.
  • Other duties as assigned


MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Associate’s Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program required
  • Completed relevant clinical education in a comparable setting required
  • or equivalent combination of education and experience required


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Basic foundational knowledge of Physical Therapy Assistant Practice required


LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Certification and current registration by the New York State Department of Education as a Certified Physical Therapy Assistant required
