Job description

As the Trade Compliance Manager, you are responsible for strengthening and evolving TOMRA Food’s global trade compliance framework. You ensure cross‑border operations are compliant, efficient and scalable by translating complex regulations into practical, business‑ready processes. You act as a trusted adviser, supporting the business while driving continuous improvement across trade compliance activities.

Your focus is to protect TOMRA’s license to operate while enabling growth, speed and cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Defining, implementing and continuously improving global trade compliance policies, controls and governance.
  • Ensuring alignment with EU, US and international trade regulations.
  • Leading complex and non‑standard trade compliance cases, including export controls, customs challenges and blocked shipments.
  • Ensuring correct classification, origin determination and documentation standards.
  • Identifying risks, ensuring audit readiness and acting as a key contact for authorities and external partners.
  • Improving data quality, enabling automation and simplifying trade compliance processes.
  • Translating regulatory requirements into clear guidance and supporting stakeholders across finance, supply chain and operations.
  • Providing subject matter guidance on letters of credit and bank guarantees.

Health, safety and care for the environment come first. You are empowered to stop work if something feels unsafe, and we expect everyone to speak up so we can prevent harm and reduce our environmental impact.

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in international business, logistics, supply chain management, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in international trade compliance, including export controls, customs and sanctions.
  • Experience building, improving or scaling trade compliance frameworks in a global environment.
  • Strong analytical capability and structured problem solving.
  • Ability to advise and challenge stakeholders while balancing compliance and business needs

Experience with trade compliance software and ERP systems can be developed on the job.

If you don't meet every single requirement, we encourage you to apply. At TOMRA, we recognise that diverse perspectives drive innovation and success. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.

Why Work For Us:

  • 13th‑month salary
  • Company car
  • Holiday pay in line with Belgian legislation
  • Meal vouchers
  • Eco vouchers
  • Group insurance (pension)
  • Hospitalisation insurance
  • Net expense allowance (where applicable)
