Paralegal, Employment and Compliance:
The Paralegal will be an integral part of the legal team with a keen sense of independent judgment in leading and driving timely and scalable delivery of operational contracts. This position will report to an Associate General Counsel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Track business entity documents related to state registration, charitable status, and tax. Draft, file, and maintain documents and records.
- Create and maintain compliance tracking systems, records, and training. Create and provide training and support materials.
- Identify, create and update legal documents, including on LA28 websites and other employee and board facing materials.
- Participate in dispute resolution management team related to employment and data privacy matters, including handling document review.
- Serve as drafter and reviewer of a myriad of operational contracts for the purchase of services and/or products related to pre-Games, Games time, and post-Games events and deliverables.
- Interface with internal business partners and external parties to drive contract negotiations and manage timing expectations.
- Draft collateral documents necessary for solicitation of RFP’s and/or negotiations, including NDAs.
- Draft confidential correspondence, memos, contract summaries, reports, and presentations.
- Manage sensitive and confidential information and documents, including maintaining processes to ensure proper management of such information and documents.
- Conduct legal research and analysis on special projects.
- Serve as the liaison between department heads and the legal team and take lead in identifying internal business needs requiring specialized contractual elements.
While experience in these areas is preferred, we also look for candidates with intellectual curiosity and a demonstrated ability to learn quickly and think proactively to round out areas where a candidate may not have depth of experience. Background & Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant preferred (preferably in a large law firm and/or corporate in-house legal department).
- Concise grammatical skills, excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Word, PowerPoint and Excel, and experience preparing legal documents, presentations and spreadsheets. Smartsheet experience a plus.
- Experience working with contract management systems, highly preferred.

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Paralegal certification preferred
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to work on-site in an open office environment, based in Los Angeles, CA
- Ability to spend extended periods of time reviewing and/or proofreading detailed contract provisions, comparing various versions of contracts, and running redlines
- Ability to spend extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment
- Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods.
- Perform other duties as required; the role will evolve over time and may include operational responsibilities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The annual base salary range for this position is $73,000-$85,000. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
