Overview The Referral Coordinator is responsible for processing pre-certifications, prior authorizations, and referrals for patients within the clinic. Provides support for a variety of other front office duties as assigned. Responsibilities Processes patient referrals to specialty providers by preparing medical charts and records providing appropriate clinical information to specialist. Provides follow up to external office/ specialist regarding referral status. Obtains authorizations for patient referrals. Ensures complete and accurate patient demographics and insurance information. Advises physician if authorization request is denied. Coordinates referral appointments and corresponds with patient, external providers, and insurance companies as necessary in a timely manner. Responds to physician's requests and concerns regarding the status of patient referrals, care coordination or follow-up status. Performs any special assignments or tasks as needed Qualifications Education / Training High School Diploma/Equivalent Preferences: Associate’s Degree Experience Requirements 1-year Clerical Medical Facility/Physician’s Office Preferences: Knowledge of Medical Terminology Processes patient referrals to specialty providers by preparing medical charts and records providing appropriate clinical information to specialist.
