Job description
This is a senior technical leadership role at the centre of AECOM's ICT & Security practice in New Zealand. As an ICT & Security Team Lead, you will lead a specialist team delivering complex ICT & security systems projects across New Zealand and Australia, combining hands-on technical and design expertise and genuine people leadership.
This is a highly collaborative and client-facing role focused on technical leadership, project delivery, stakeholder management, and mentoring emerging team members. You’ll work closely with senior technical leaders across New Zealand and Australia while helping grow AECOM’s ICT & Security capability across the region.
Technical delivery
- Lead and deliver ICT and security systems work across healthcare, defence, airports, and major infrastructure projects
- Provide technical leadership across integrated ICT, communications, and security systems while maintaining accountability for quality outcomes
- Undertake site visits and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary infrastructure teams
People leadership & capability growth
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of ICT and security specialists, supporting capability growth and career development
- Manage team resourcing, utilisation, and project pipeline planning to ensure balanced and effective delivery
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement
ANZ collaboration, clients & business growth
- Collaborate with team leads across New Zealand and Australia on resourcing, capability planning, and project delivery
- Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships across technical and non-technical audiences
- Contribute to proposals, business development, and the continued growth of AECOM’s ICT & Security presence in New Zealand

Technical background
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent industry experience
- Strong ICT and/or security systems experience within consulting or infrastructure environments
- Experience delivering projects across healthcare, infrastructure, defence, aviation, or related sectors
- Familiarity with relevant New Zealand, Australian, and international ICT and security standards
- Eligibility and willingness to obtain a New Zealand Security License
Leadership, collaboration & communication
- Experience leading, mentoring, or supervising technical teams
- Ability to manage team resourcing, identify capability gaps, and support long-term team development
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across technical teams, clients, and senior leadership
- Ability to manage competing priorities and navigate challenges professionally and constructively
- Proven ability to build strong relationships across distributed teams and multidisciplinary environments
- Consultancy experience and a collaborative mindset within a broader ANZ practice is highly regarded
