ABOUT US
The Salvation Army is a Christian movement and one of Australia's largest and most-loved charities. We believe in doing good that transforms lives and futures for the better. It is this belief which drives us to find new ways and places where we can make a difference. From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Procurement Manager for a full-time permanent position based in Blackburn. Reporting to the GM Procurement, you will provide strategic leadership across the national procurement function. You will lead a team of Procurement Specialists and drive best-practice category management—delivering value, reducing risk, and building long-term supplier partnerships.
In this role, you will strengthen procurement capability, enhance governance, and build sustainable supplier partnerships that support long-term organisational outcomes—balancing commercial rigour with social purpose in a complex NFP environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and execute category and sourcing strategies across diverse indirect spend portfolios
- Deliver end-to-end procurement, including market analysis, RFx, negotiation, and contract award
- Drive commercial outcomes, cost optimisation, and value-for-money initiatives
- Manage strategic supplier relationships, ensuring performance, compliance, and risk mitigation
- Oversee contract management, governance, and adherence to procurement policies
- Partner with senior stakeholders to align sourcing decisions with organisational priorities
- Mentor and develop a high-performing procurement team, embedding best practice and continuous improvement
- Manage category budgets, pipelines, and procurement project delivery
About You
You are a commercially astute procurement leader with strong negotiation capability and a proven ability to build strategic, value-driven supplier partnerships.
Key capabilities:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Supply Chain or Procurement
- 8-10 years experience in strategic sourcing and procurement, ideally across complex indirect categories
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing high-performing teams
- Strong track record delivering commercial value, savings, and supplier innovation
- Deep expertise in end-to-end procurement, contract management, and vendor governance
- Advanced analytical capability (TCO, ROI, cost modelling)
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement with the ability to influence at executive level
