Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for an analytical and detail-oriented AML professional to join a global platform company specialising in investment solutions for leading financial institutions.

As an AML Analyst, you will support both onboarding and ongoing AML/CTF compliance activities, including transaction monitoring. You will work closely with the business and clients to ensure regulatory requirements are delivered efficiently and professionally, contributing to a strong client experience.

Reporting to the Head of Line 1 Risk APAC, this role sits within the APAC Operational Risk team and involves managing day-to-day transaction monitoring activities, engaging with stakeholders and clients on AML/CTF matters.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders in maintaining compliance with AML Programs.

  • Using AML Platforms to assess screening and/or transaction monitoring alerts to detect and assess ML/TF risk;

  • Manage and respond to alerts generated by AML transaction monitoring systems

  • Complete PEP or Sanctions checks and risk assessments on an ongoing basis;

  •  Manage and respond to alerts generated by AML transaction monitoring systems

  • Conduct detailed investigation to identify ML/TF red flags and ongoing customer due diligence

  • Prepare AML/CTF reporting to internal and external committees and clients.

  • Prepare detailed investigation reports clearly outlining the ML/TF Risks with reference to Group Risk Appetites.

  • Keeping abreast of emerging ML/TF trends and issues, including AUSTRAC typologies and relevant media reports;

  • Review and ensure the company and clients meet their obligations in relation to AML/CTF and financial crime.

  • Monitor client requirements to ensure compliance with service level agreements;

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives;

  • Adhere to SLAs for internal investigation and external regulatory reporting

  • Provide AML/CTF mandatory training requirements to relevant staff; 

  • Liaise with and provide guidance to internal and external stakeholders as required on AML/CTF related matters.

  • Undertake any other projects/ tasks as may reasonably be required to facilitate the smooth operation of the company. 

  • Positively promoting a proactive risk management culture

Experience Required

  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent;

  • Financial Crime background

  • Strong understanding and experience of conducting KYC on complex ownership structures (Trusts, Companies etc)

  • Strong background in AML/CTF transaction monitoring, Sanctions, or financial crime

  • Experience in AML/CTF obligation within a retail/consumer or wealth management environment

  • Strong knowledge of AUSTRAC regulations and AML policies / procedures

  • Sound knowledge of the Australian Financial Services industry and the related regulatory environment including AML/CTF Act, Privacy Act; Corporations Act, SIS Act

  • Exemplary Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills

  • Report writing skills and strong communication skills and ability to collaborate well with stakeholders

  • Demonstrated ability to support required behavioural and cultural change

  • Strong commercial acumen and pragmatic approach to driving change

  • Advanced user of MS Office product suite (ie, Word Excel & PowerPoint)
