Job description

He aha te tūranga - About the role:

Join one of New Zealand’s most trusted, purpose‑driven organisations in a rare opportunity to lead a large‑scale, established Individual Giving programme. This is a high‑impact leadership role with real scope to drive sustainable growth. This is an 18‑month fixed‑term opportunity.

As Individual Giving Manager, you’ll bring strategy to life - translating national fundraising priorities into clear, actionable plans that drive sustainable income and exceptional supporter experiences.

With responsibility for delivering a $12M+ Individual Giving programme and leading an established, multi-disciplinary team of 7.5 FTE across Regular Giving and Appeal campaigns, this is an opportunity to work within a collaborative, supportive culture that puts donors first. You’ll play a key role in developing and inspiring the Individual Giving team, driving success across donor acquisition, stewardship, and retention.

Role accountabilities include:

  • Leading and developing a high‑performing Individual Giving team, providing clear direction, mentoring, and performance management
  • Drive acquisition, retention, and stewardship strategies to meet or exceed income targets
  • Oversee direct mail and digital campaigns during the high‑impact, organisation‑wide Annual Appeal and Giving Day
  • Budget planning, forecasting, and expenditure management, identifying risks and opportunities early
  • Test and scale new donor acquisition channels and lead generation opportunities
  • Act as the internal and external champion for Individual Giving, promoting best practice across appeals and regular giving programmes
  • Contribute to the Fundraising Leadership Team, supporting organisation‑wide success and collaboration
  • Share donor insight and stories to increase engagement and understanding across the organisation

Ko wai koe - About you:

We’re looking for a collaborative and solutions‑focused leader with strong Individual Giving experience, ideally within a large and complex organisation.

You will bring:

  • Proven experience in Individual Giving, with a strong track record of delivering income growth
  • Demonstrated team leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and develop others
  • A pragmatic, proactive approach with strong problem‑solving skills
  • The confidence to use initiative and drive new ideas forward
  • A positive, engaging style, with the ability to bring teams on a journey and build strong relationships

If you are passionate about delivering meaningful supporter experiences and leading high‑impact fundraising programmes, we would love to hear from you.

Based in the Ellerslie office on Mondays and Wednesdays usually, working hours are 8:30am to 5pm with flexibility (40 hours / week). The role also offers a supportive transition, with the current Individual Giving Manager moving into a major CRM project, remaining close to the programme and available to support you with a successful handover.
