Description

The EHS and Facilities Manager is responsible for the EHS management of three UK based sites (Norwich, Cambridge, and Northampton) and Facilities Management of the Norwich site; this encompasses the management of services and processes that support Production, Product Repair & Servicing, and Engineering. You will report to the Site Leader and work with the Global HS&E Team to ensure that best practices are followed for maximum efficiency and that the most suitable working environment is maintained for its employees and their activities. This is a diverse, hands-on role with a range of responsibilities. You will be part of the Site Senior Leadership Team and involved in both strategic planning and day-to-day operations of the Norwich site. MANAGEMENT

  • X1 Direct reports but will take the project lead as required in multifunction projects
  • Senior Leader on the Norwich Site Leadership team
  • Proven track record of strong project management skills and successful project implementation
  • Proven record of strong people management skills including the ability to successfully build the required skills in a team, develop individuals and implement team working
  • Good communication and presentation skills with the ability to adapt personal style to colleagues’ preferences and translate the departmental impacts to all levels of the business.

EHS SCOPE

  • To lead, develop and maintain the Health, Safety & Environment management systems for the UK sites ensuring continuous improvement programs are implemented in accordance with Fortive Business System
  • Coordinate UK EHS policy adoption and lead EHS training to ensure compliance across the UK sites
  • Act as the Responsible Person on Fire Safety and comply with the roles and responsibilities as detailed by the Fire Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 for the Norwich site.
  • To administer the risk assessment program (including COSHH) to ensure the risk associated with all business activities are understood and programs are in place to reduce these risks. Plan best allocation and utilization of space and resources for new buildings, or re-organizing of current premises
  • Identify and communicate technical and EHS risks and trade-offs to key stakeholders
  • To ensure the site has adequate coverage of First Aiders, Fire Wardens, and Environmental, Health, and safety representatives

FACILITIES SCOPE

  • Building and grounds maintenance.
  • Catering and Vending.
  • Contract placement and management.
  • Project management and cost control of small to medium facilities projects, appointing, and managing appropriate contractors to implement.
  • Plan for future development projects in line with strategic business objectives.
  • Space management.
  • Site-wide infrastructure services management – includes but not limited to; cleaning, security, waste management, etc.
  • Building M&E services including back up system maintenance and improvements.

EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE SCOPE

  • Management of calibration equipment (Mechanical and Electrical)
  • Preventative maintenance and breakdown cover for production equipment.
  • Control of onsite test equipment, mechanical and electrical including calibration status and management.
  • Support installation of new equipment into the facility including early involvement with equipment design

COMMUNICATION

  • To maintain active and continuous contact (not restricted to formal meetings) with all stakeholders on the Norwich, Cambridge, and Northampton sites
  • To encourage good relations and professional communication between, staff, departments, customers, and suppliers.
  • To ensure that company efficiency is not restricted by poor communications.
  • Utilizes visual management to track projects, measure performance, and run problem-solving events at Gemba.

GENERAL

  • Visual Project management to provide full transparency to all employees.
  • Drives continuous improvement using data and deploys effective KPI’s to measure improvements.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to define trade-offs on projects including priority, effort, impact, & resource balancing.
  • Self-starter, self-motivated, works well in a team environment
  • Root cause analysis using various problem-solving methodologies
  • Ability to exercise judgment within procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
  • Must build productive internal/external working relationships
  • Ability to handle high pressure, prioritize work, and understand the impact of duties
  • Respond to metric/goal-driven environment, take initiative to meet goals
  • Lean thinking and mindset key to the success of the position
  • Both able to support and lead site-wide improvement projects.
  • Prepare documents to put out to company stakeholders and tenders for contractors in accordance with company policy.
  • Check that agreed work by staff or contractors has been completed satisfactorily and follow up on any deficiencies.
  • Be on-call for emergencies or urgent issues as they arise and deal with the consequences.
  • Complete “Point of work” risk assessments throughout the site.

Qualifications

  • BIFM qualified - desirable
  • Experienced in facilities management of complex operations (5+ years’ experience.
  • Working knowledge of Safety and Environment Management Systems (OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001)
  • Experienced in training groups of people and tracking employee’s development
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including MS Project.
  • 17/18th Edition electrical qualification - desirable
