Job description

As a Quality Control Analyst , you will perform a variety of laboratory activities and analyses to support the manufacture, maintenance, improvement and understanding of our products and processes. Participates and contributes on a fast-paced technically-focused team. Executes routine and non-routine efficacy analysis of raw materials, work-in-process and finished goods on a variety of diagnostic platforms. Generates, documents, analyzes data. Prepares solutions and reagents as required. Communicates and presents to peers and managers within and across LOBs. Degree of complexity and autonomy is dependent on level of experience.

What you will be doing

  • Gather, analyze and report on data.
  • Identify, evaluate and implement system, process or procedure improvement opportunities.
  • Analyze, develop and implement process changes to provide improvement in work flow, operational procedures and other related business areas.
  • Participate in projects to implement initiatives; identifies project opportunities; generates ideas and solutions.
  • Communicate with related areas to coordinate work.
  • May lead work activities of others, coordinating daily activities and providing training, coaching and guidance.
  • Follows approved processes and procedures in the manufacture and testing of components and products.
  • Adheres to established laboratory and manufacturing practices as defined by PHENOM IMS, USDA, FDA and ISO 9001:2008/14001 standards.
  • Prepares materials, conducts proscribed testing, performs experiments, gathers data, carries out analysis and reaches conclusions. Design and conduct experiments in support of ongoing continuous improvement and product support projects.
  • Documents production activities and experiments. Prepares reports and summaries. Presents results and conclusions. Maintains appropriate records.
  • Orders and maintains equipment, supplies and work area.
  • Collaborates and communicates with colleagues and others in related areas to provide workflow support, appropriate reagent inventories, exchange information and ensure efficient processes.
  • Test raw materials, work-in-process reagents, final products and perform other production-related activities.
  • Expands knowledge of products and procedures in order to pursue avenues of continuous improvement in product performance, workflow efficiency, material savings, and overall COGM reductions.

What you need to succeed

Bachelors degree in Biology, Chemistry or a science discipline (due to laboratory work) or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Data gathering and analytical ability. Process improvement skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Project management ability. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work both independently with limited supervision as needed and ability to work collaboratively as a team player. PC skills, including Microsoft Office.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Extensive sitting, phone and computer use. Capable of standing continuously for up to 2 hours.

Extend and reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers. Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crouch. May be required to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Hearing acuity sufficient to effectively communicate with customers and Employees via telephone and in person. Ability to communicate verbally on phone and in person. Fluency in the English language. Extended hours may be required. General office environment or light laboratory/industrial, with some areas to assemble equipment, decontaminate potential biohazards and bench repair instruments. Normal office noise level, with occasional moderate noise.
