Mission Context
ELYgator is Air Liquide's flagship renewable hydrogen project. It will be a large-scale next-generation renewable hydrogen production facility located in Maasvlakte, the Netherlands. Featuring a hydrogen electrolyzer with a capacity ten times higher than existing installations, ELYgator will produce 23,000 tons of renewable and low-carbon hydrogen per year. The project is unique due to its unprecedented scale, with a 200 MW electrolyser, and its innovative combination of two electrolysis technologies: PEM and Alkaline.
Responsibilities
•
Supervise the installation, commissioning, and overall site activities related to all rotating equipment packages, including HP/LP compressors and associated motors.
•
Provide strong on-site leadership to contractors and vendor representatives to maintain project schedule and quality standards.
•
Proactively identify and resolve site issues, including delays caused by incorrect installation sequences.
•
Ensure strict control during equipment unboxing and installation activities, working closely with suppliers to identify any abnormalities.
•
Assume ownership, with the support of the Material Manager, for the preservation of all rotating equipment packages, including compressors and motors, particularly during extended storage or installation periods.
•
Ensure proper storage and preservation of machines and machine components to prevent corrosion and associated issues.
•
Verify and implement supplier-specific preservation recommendations for compressors and rotating machinery, including gearboxes, sealing systems, lube oil systems, and main drivers.
•
Oversee mandatory long-term preservation activities once compressors are installed on their foundations.
•
Coordinate temporary electrical power connections to energize motor space heaters immediately after installation.
•
Apply advanced technical expertise in compressor systems to support installation activities and troubleshoot technical issues.
•
Maintain continuous communication with the Rotating Engineering team regarding site-related concerns.
•
Coordinate with Procurement, Site Management, and Material Management teams to address preservation, logistics, and material handling requirements.
