Overview
POSITION SUMMARY
This electrician position is for the Echo Cliffs Health Center. The Electrician installs, maintains, and repairs the electrical infrastructure of a healthcare facility. Ensures uninterrupted power, lighting, and equipment operations to support patient care. This electrical position troubleshoots electrical faults, perform preventive maintenance, oversight of critical emergency electrical systems and operations and adhere to safety regulations.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of accepted Electrical Apprenticeship Program
Experience
- Minimum six (6) years of verifiable commercial electrical work experience
- Basic computer skills and literacy for communication, records, forms, and ordering

Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Incumbent will be installing, modifying, repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, testing, and loading new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, equipment, controls; all secondary power distribution lines and circuits used to supply a wide range of voltage, amperage, phase, and frequency requirements, to distribution panels, switchgear, power and control circuits; Security intrusion alarms and fire alarm system; emergency warning systems; lighting protection systems; high intensity discharge lighting systems and controls.
- Keeps records of and reports electrical preventative maintenance activities; makes annual, quarterly, monthly, and weekly required inspections of electrical devices, exit lights and emergency lighting, fire alarm systems
- Inspects, records and reports condition of electrical load components with infrared tester, ammeter, voltage tester, megger, high potential tester, circuit analyzer, phase rotation, and other electrical testers to ensure sound continued electrical safety.
- Documents and records all work activities, scheduled & non-scheduled inspections, including repairs and new installations through the department’s established work order system.
- Responsible and have oversight of emergency generators and ensure they are tested frequently to assure ready for stand-by power needed for safe egress lighting, operation of boiler plant, computer data system, and other critical loads as required by Joint Commission standards.
- Tests and Documents Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS), Stored Emergency Power Supply System (SEPSS), Flywheel UPS, and other electrical energy storage equipment and systems.
- Works on construction & in-house projects related to electrical installation, communication, distribution systems and electrical equipment.
- Assists in the planning, design and specifications for installation of Electrical, Medical, Mechanical and HVAC equipment.
- Must be able to read engineering blueprints on new construction projects or remodeling which are related to all phases of the electrical field. Lays out and constructs electrical system, plans, purchases and assembles in relation to latest construction and code requirements. Makes necessary alterations to existing electrical systems to facilitate additional safe expansion and addition of needed services.
- Locate and diagnose troubleshoot electrical distribution system for the Echo Cliffs Clinic and other buildings of the property, including underground wiring, street lighting, power, light lines, solar power, EV car charger and service entrances.
- Repair or recommend replacing equipment, such as light fixtures, boiler safety control devices, air conditioning controls and other electrically powered equipment.
- Must have knowledge of the various gauges, sizes, and types of wire, conduit, fittings, boxes, circuit breakers, relays and other electrical supplies and devices; Require basic familiarity with electronics and components: such as transformers, resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors; may operate basic test equipment such as signal generators, signal tracers; and may read schematics of uncomplicated assemblies to determine locations of defective electronic parts and circuits.
- The incumbent is subject to be called back to Echo Cliffs Clinic after normal duty hours in case of emergencies related to buildings, utilities or equipment failure. The work involved in these emergency situations may be in other trades of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, etc.
- Uses hand and power tools and equipment of the various trades listed above when performing duties such as cable pullers, hydraulic benders, pipe threading machine, and sewer machine.
- Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
- Ensures all work meets strict health and safety codes (such as NFPA), including specialized environments like MRI rooms and surgical suites.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Ensure proper PPE is always worn while on duty including but not limited to face mask, gloves, gown, NIOSH-approved N95 filtering respirator or higher (if available), and eye or face shield.
- Complete all donning and doffing tasks in a safe acceptable method and discard of used PPE accordingly. (See CDC website for most current updates).
- Complete task training for all routine cleaning and decontamination processes for all surfaces contaminated by a communicable disease to ensure a high level of patient, visitor, employee, and external customer satisfaction.
