Description

Purpose: A Medical Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) manages the care of cancer patients, administers treatments like chemotherapy and immunotherapy, and monitors complex side effects. They act as crucial liaisons between physicians, patients, and families, providing both clinical care and essential emotional support.

What will you do

· Treatment Administration: Prepare, verify, and administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, blood products, and supportive medications per physician orders.

· Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, triage symptoms, and monitor patients for adverse reactions or changes in health status.

· Side Effect Management: Proactively manage treatment toxicities, pain, and other complications in collaboration with the care team.

· Education & Advocacy: Educate patients and caregivers on disease processes, treatment plans, and self-care at home.

· Care Coordination: Facilitate seamless transitions of care, schedule follow-ups, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes

Minimum Qualifications: Education

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Bachelors is required.

Experience & Skills

Previous medical oncology experience in an acute care facility.

Licensure/Certification

  • ONS Chemo Biotherapy course on hire or within 6 months of hire required
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida.
  • Current BLS Certification Required - AHA
