Job description

The GIS Engineer will be responsible for supporting spatial data management, mapping, and geospatial analysis across the project's portfolio. The role is crucial for integrating GIS technologies into heritage-sensitive urban planning and project execution. Working closely with planning, engineering, and construction teams, the GIS Engineer will ensure accurate geospatial information is available for asset management, design validation, utilities coordination, and stakeholder reporting.

  • Develop, maintain, and update GIS databases to support ongoing and future phases of the project.
  • Generate detailed and high-quality maps to visualize project information, asset locations, and infrastructure networks.
  • Support site planning, infrastructure layout, and utility coordination using spatial data overlays and analysis.
  • Perform geospatial analysis to support design decisions, heritage impact assessments, and construction logistics.
  • Coordinate with design and engineering teams to ensure geospatial data aligns with architectural and civil layouts.
  • Provide GIS input for stakeholder presentations, permit documentation, and progress reporting.
  • Collaborate with authorities including JHD to ensure spatial data compliance with heritage preservation zones and regulatory boundaries.
  • Assist in integrating GIS layers into the PMIS and EDMS platforms for centralized information management.
  • Conduct field data collection using GPS and drone-based surveys when required.
  • Maintain metadata standards and ensure data accuracy, consistency, and version control.
  • Support spatial analysis for risk identification, environmental constraints, and urban zoning.
  • Provide training and technical support on GIS tools to project staff and consultants.
  • Prepare documentation for GIS workflows, procedures, and data handover at project closeout.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geomatics Engineering, Survey Engineering, or a closely related field (mandatory).
  • Master's Degree in GIS, Remote Sensing, or a related spatial discipline (preferred).
  • Minimum 8 to 12 years of professional experience in a GIS engineering or geospatial technical role.
  • Experience on land development, cadastral, 3D digital twin, survey, or urban planning projects in Saudi Arabia (preferred).
  • Prior exposure to PMC (Project Management Consultancy) roles or contractor deliverable review functions.
  • Experience in Al Balad, Jeddah, or similar historic urban areas with complex boundary and survey conditions (advantage).
  • Direct working experience with Tanmia (the Saudi Land Authority) data and processes or Amanah digital submission platforms (e.g., Baladi) (advantage).
