Summary
This role is responsible for leading and growing the showroom and online sales division within a fast-paced, product-focused commercial retail business.
The Commercial Sales Manager will drive turnover through strong leadership, team development, operational ownership, customer engagement, and data-driven decision making.
The role requires a hands-on commercial leader who can build structure, improve standards, develop people, and execute effectively through the sales team.
The successful candidate will be commercially minded, energetic, dependable, and aligned to a culture of accountability, respect, ownership, and continuous improvement.
This is not a purely strategic executive role — it is suited to someone who enjoys building, improving, coaching, and driving execution through their team within a growing sales environment.
The ideal profile is someone with strong commercial retail exposure in high-ticket , product-based environment such as commercial catering equipment or furniture, technical equipment, automotive, lifestyle retail, building supply, or similar showroom-led industries.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the showroom and online sales divisions to achieve departmental turnover and KPI targets.
- Drive sales performance through structured leadership, accountability, coaching, and operational discipline.
- Build a high-performance, customer-focused sales culture aligned to company values and standards.
- Develop, mentor, and grow the sales team through training, coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
- Ensure team members understand expectations, product knowledge requirements, CRM usage, and customer engagement standards.
- Monitor sales activity, conversion rates, pipeline performance, and revenue trends using CRM and reporting tools.
- Analyse sales data and identify opportunities for growth, efficiency, staffing improvements, and operational optimisation.
- Work closely with management to support the scaling and development of the sales department.
- Assist with sales process improvements, workflow efficiencies, team structure planning, and operational alignment.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Procurement, Warehouse, Logistics, and Customer Care to ensure smooth customer delivery and experience.
- Maintain strong standards around professionalism, communication, reporting, customer service, and sales execution.
- Drive ownership and accountability within the team while maintaining a positive and motivating leadership presence.
- Support management with reporting, sales insights, team feedback, and execution planning.

Minimum requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a sales leadership, branch management, or commercial retail management role.
- Proven experience leading and developing a sales or customer-facing team.
- Experience in a high-ticket, product-focused retail or showroom environment.
- Exposure to CRM systems, reporting tools, and sales analytics.
- Strong understanding of KPI management, sales reporting, and operational execution.
- Strong administration and computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, CRM systems).
- Fluent in English. Afrikaans advantageous.
- Valid South African driver’s license.
- Industry exposure:
o Experience with commercial catering/food service equipment is advantageous.
o Experience within industries relating to Hospitality supply or showroom-led environments, Furniture and interiors, Automotive dealerships, Technical or equipment sales, Building supply and trade sales, Lifestyle or premium retail will be helpful.
