Job Purpose
The Financial Process Engineer is responsible for analysing, redesigning and enhancing finance processes across accounting, reporting and planning deliverables. The role combines accounting expertise with a solution-driven mindset and uses automation, AI, data analytics and process documentation to improve efficiency, quality and insight generation.
The role holder acts as a change agent within the finance function, helping to simplify complex processes, challenge existing ways of working and implement scalable solutions that meet business, regulatory and governance requirements.
The Financial Engineer is pro-actively driving the aforementioned processes and deliverables and supports colleagues in their development. Also the role holder is keen to understand the underlying business processes and to define the required accounting/tax/reporting treatment.
The role is within a continuously growing company and provides plenty of opportunity to grow and develop in the field of finance, reinsurance and beyond.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborating and contributing in a global team and managing relationship with different internal and external stakeholders including Allianz Group, Allianz Re SE, cedents, vendors, banks, clients and local authorities
- Defining and solving problems independently, including identifying opportunities for automation and process optimisation through AI and digital tools
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including the adoption of AI tools within the finance function
- Maintain appropriate documentation and audit trails for automated and AI-supported processes in line with internal control requirements
- Working under different accounting regimes such as IFRS17 and Solvency II
- Supporting management reporting for local committees and Board Meetings
Experience & Key skills
- Relevant working experience (2+ years post qualification) in the financial services sector
- Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent relevant experience in finance transformation, financial reporting, process improvement or data analytics.
- Demonstrable awareness and experience of data analytics and emerging AI tools in a finance context (e.g. Power BI, Anthropic, Copilot, Python or similar)
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
- Solid understanding of IFRS17 and its practical implementation strongly preferred
- Previous knowledge of Solvency II strongly preferred
- Strong analytical mindset with ability to leverage data analytics and AI tools to enhance insight generation and process efficiency experience of coordinating and delivering accurate output with multiple deadlines
- Highly motivated and used to working in a self-organised way
- Ability to identify opportunities to automate repetitive accounting and reporting processes using AI or workflow tools
- Ability to critically review AI-generated outputs and ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with accounting standards
- Awareness of AI-related risks (e.g. data privacy, model limitations) and ability to apply appropriate controls in a finance environment
