Job description
The BHC Recruiter for Food & Beverage is a critical member of our People & Culture team, responsible for identifying and securing the culinary and service talent that brings our portfolio to life. This role is purpose-built for a recruiter who understands the hospitality industry from the inside: someone who can speak to the appeal of a career at BHC as fluently as they can evaluate a résumé, read a room, or navigate a competitive talent market.
Reporting to the Area Director of Talent Acquisition, this position leads full-cycle recruiting across BHC’s food and beverage operations, spanning fine dining, all-day concepts, bar programs, and large-scale event operations. The Recruiter will work closely with culinary and food and beverage leaders and property Managing Directors to understand the staffing needs and distinct cultural character of each venue, and to develop sourcing strategies that are proactive, precise, and calibrated to BHC’s standard of intentional hospitality.
Success in this role requires more than transactional hiring execution. The Recruiter serves as a brand ambassador and talent advisor, operating with qualities such as quietly confident, warm, discerning, and composed. Every candidate interaction is an extension of the guest experience standard, and every hire is made with equal regard for technical skill and cultural alignment. BHC invests in developing its people with the same rigor it brings to every guest experience.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage full-cycle recruitment across food and beverage and broader BHC departments, from sourcing and initial screening through offer negotiation, background coordination, and onboarding handoff.
Partner closely with food and beverage hiring managers, department heads, and People and Culture leaders to define role requirements, candidate profiles, and sourcing strategies aligned to operational needs and the service standards of each property.
Source qualified candidates through targeted channels, including hospitality-specific job boards, culinary and service industry networks, social media, direct outreach, employee referrals, and industry events such as career fairs and culinary competitions.
Build and maintain proactive talent pipelines for high-volume hourly roles and key leadership positions across BHC’s restaurant, bar, and events operations.
Screen and interview candidates, assessing technical skills, service disposition, and cultural alignment with BHC’s values and the specific character of each property and concept.
Deliver a seamless, candidate-centric experience at every stage of the recruitment process, extending the same level of intentional care and precision that BHC brings to every guest interaction.
Maintain accurate recruitment data, candidate records, and reporting metrics within Workday Recruiting and other applicable systems.
Collaborate with the People and Culture team and hiring leaders to ensure talent acquisition practices are aligned with BHC’s workforce goals and long-range staffing strategy.
Coordinate and support hiring events, career fairs, hospitality school partnerships, and campus recruitment initiatives that advance BHC’s employer brand in the Charleston market and beyond.
Track and analyze market compensation data, wage benchmarks, and competitor hiring activity within the food and beverage sector to keep BHC’s talent proposition sharp and competitive.
Support onboarding coordination efforts and facilitate a smooth transition from accepted offer to first day, ensuring new colleagues feel welcomed into BHC’s culture from the start.
Build and foster relationships with local and national Culinary and Hospitality Programs to develop early-career pipelines.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Qualifications
Minimum of two (2) years of recruitment or human resources experience, with demonstrated focus on food and beverage, luxury hospitality, or high-touch service environments strongly preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience considered.
Experience utilizing LinkedIn Recruiter to seek top candidates for challenging recruitment searches.
Demonstrated expertise in full-cycle recruitment, including sourcing, screening, offer management, and onboarding coordination.
Experience working with applicant tracking systems and recruitment platforms; Workday Recruiting experience is a significant advantage.
Familiarity with the operational rhythms, staffing structures, and seasonal demands of restaurant, bar, and events environments.
Leadership Attributes
Quietly confident in approach: leads with substance, not performance, and earns trust through consistency, follow-through, and calm execution under pressure.
Warm in every candidate and stakeholder interaction, creating an experience that reflects BHC’s standards of intentional hospitality from first contact to first day.
Discerning and culturally fluent, with an instinct for matching talent to the specific character of each BHC property and concept rather than filling seats.
Composed under competing demands, managing multiple open requisitions and relationships with the precision and clarity the business requires.
High standard of confidentiality, discretion, and professional judgment in all matters related to candidates, compensation, and internal colleagues.
Measures of Success
Time-to-fill benchmarks are consistently met or exceeded across food and beverage roles at all BHC properties.
Candidate quality and hiring manager satisfaction scores reflect strong alignment between sourced talent and role requirements.
Candidate experience throughout the recruitment process is positive, intentional, and reflective of BHC’s brand standards.
Offer acceptance rates demonstrate a compelling and competitive candidate journey.
Recruitment data within Workday is accurate, current, and supports informed workforce planning decisions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to work in a professional office environment with extended periods at a desk and computer.
Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds on occasion, including office supplies and recruitment event materials.
Ability to see and hear sufficiently to conduct in-person, phone, and video interviews and to communicate effectively with candidates and colleagues.
Occasional travel to BHC properties and off-site recruitment events as needed.
Flexibility to adjust hours during peak hiring periods or special events.
Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
