Job Summary
Summary: The primary purpose of your job is to provide respiratory care to patients of all ages in accordance with current applicable Federal, State, and local standards guidelines, and regulations and established policies and procedures as may be directed by the Administrator, to assure that the highest degree of quality care and safety can be maintained.Does this position require Patient Care? Yes
Essential Functions:
-Emergency room and outpatient therapy.
-Cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
-Atrial puncture: pH blood gas analysis.
-Oxygen therapy with prescribed appliances.
-Therapeutic treatments including BiPap aerosol nebulization, chest physiotherapy, postural drainage, heated high humidity, incentive spirometry, other appropriate respiratory care as prescribed.
-Initiate and monitor mechanical ventilation, long term, and transport.
-Endotracheal suctioning.
-Airway management.
-Stabilize airway, monitor, and support ventilation prior to patient transport.
-Electrocardiograms.
-Pulmonary function Studies.
-Multidisciplinary rounds.
-End tidal CO? monitoring.
-Attend high risk deliveries and scheduled C-Sections.
-Educates patients, families, and professional staff.
-Other prescribed modalities to ensure proper patient care and department standards and operation.
-Cooperates and collaborates with other clinical services.
-Participates in in-service education programs for facility and community benefit.
-Attends workshops, seminars, etc. and stays current with changes in the health care as well as maintains professional status.
-EPIC EMR documentation system.
-Practical knowledge of safety standards for patient care and equipment.
-Monitors the condition of equipment.
-Follows infection control procedures and complies with Employee Health policies.
-Recommends equipment and supply needs for the department to the manager.
-Assures the therapy area is maintained in a clean and safe manner.
-Involved patient and family in planning treatment and identifies specific goals and outcomes for patient.
-Allows patient to participate and schedule their treatments.
-Reviews complaints and grievances made by patients, family, or visitors.

Education:
Other Certificate/Diploma Respiratory Therapy required

Licenses and Credentials:
Respiratory Therapist [Massachusetts] - Massachusetts Board of Respiratory Care required
Experience
Three years’ practical experience in cardio-pulmonary capacity in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, or other related medical facility. 3-5 years required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Degree from an A.M.A and BBRC approved school of Respiratory Therapy.
- Registered from the National Board for Respiratory Care, Inc.
- Currently Licensed in Massachusetts.
- Maintains license as necessary.
