The Opportunity

Orrcon Steel Distribution is looking for a Customer Service Officer to join the team based in Albany WA. Orrcon Steel Distribution is a leading Australian supplier of steel and aluminium products, offering a comprehensive range engineered to meet the demands of diverse industries. Our products are backed by strong technical expertise, full traceability, and stringent quality standards. Supported by strategic supplier partnerships and a nationwide network of distribution centres, we ensure consistent availability, reliable performance, and dependable supply for customers across Australia.

But this isn’t just a desk job — we’re after a true all-rounder and team player. Someone who can drive sales, chase up leads, and build solid relationships, while also being ready to roll up their sleeves and pitch in wherever it’s needed. If there’s a job to be done, you’re on it. If a customer needs a solution, you’re already working on it.  You’ll also keep accurate records and handle data input carefully to make sure orders and customer deliveries are spot on, helping the whole team run smoothly.

What Will You Do?

Supported by an experienced team, you’ll take real ownership of your work, you’ll

• handle enquiries in person, over the phone, and by email, delivering timely, practical solutions to customers across farming, construction, fabrication, and manufacturing
• prepare accurate quotes and follow up to turn leads into sales
• support external sales reps with local knowledge, customer insights, and hands-on follow-through
• take initiative to solve problems, improve processes, and make the customer experience better every day
• help out with day-to-day branch work — whether that’s assisting a customer at the counter or jumping in to back up your team when things get busy

• strong communication skills — you’re clear, confident, and easy to talk to
• a customer first mindset that means you follow through and close the loop with customers
• someone who enjoys variety, works well under pressure, and can juggle tasks without missing a beat
• a can-do attitude and sense of responsibility — you take pride in doing things right
• comfortable with tech and quick to learn new systems (experience with SAP or similar is a bonus)
