Job description

The Red Hat Customer Content Services team is looking for a Senior Technical Writer in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will provide independent strategic contributions to develop and deliver content for customer success as part of a dynamic, fast-paced Agile team. Drawing from your passion for technology and communication, you will create and be responsible for customer-facing technical documentation for Red Hat products.

What you will do:

  • Proactively apply knowledge of content standards to build modular, reusable content that promotes AI consumption. Evaluate technical documentation to ensure quality (content is clear, concise, user focused, and easy to navigate by users).

  • Lead AI-assisted content gap analysis initiatives and use results to drive curation of content and retirement of content that is no longer current.

  • Proactively create content ecosystems that bridge the gap between technical complexity and customer goals, taking a portfolio view. Use AI for drafting and then validate output with product expertise.

  • Manage multiple concurrent project workstreams with minimal supervision, developing and executing tactical plans to meet objectives, scope, and sprint goals.

  • Prepare and present project status updates, maintain appropriate currency in work items, clearly identify risks and provide recommendations to mitigate them.

  • Advise and support junior team members. Support senior staff to guide, inspire, and support transitions with tools, processes or other areas. Lead by example with regard to change agility.

  • Work closely with content strategists, documentation program managers, engineering teams, support teams, and other stakeholders to create and maintain accurate, high-quality documentation for target audiences within scheduled timelines.

  • Devote time to research to increase your understanding of your product area and explore and experiment with emerging AI technologies relevant to your role, proactively identifying opportunities to incorporate new AI capabilities into existing workflows and tooling.

What you will bring:

  • Ability to independently conduct research and collaborate with technical and subject matter experts to produce and improve documentation

  • Ability to understand and explain complex technical concepts concisely

  • Proficiency in modular authoring and version control systems

  • Familiarity with structured, topic-based authoring and information architecture that adheres to publishing standards

  • Experience with software and documentation development life cycles

  • Ability to collaborate in a global team environment and follow through on commitments

  • Demonstrated success being accountable for project prioritization, execution, and completion

The following are considered a plus:

  • Experience with DITA and Adobe Guides

  • Knowledge of open source philosophies and Red Hat products

  • Hands-on experience with OpenShift or cloud services

  • Experience leading cross-team initiatives and mentoring writers

  • Familiarity with Agile software development

  • Experience with metadata management

The salary range for this position is $94,550.00 - $151,170.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.
