Position Overview
We are seeking a Hydraulic Systems Design Engineer to join our global hydraulics team, fully on-site at our Technical Center in Mossville, IL. This role focuses on design engineering, project management, and supplier product application engineering for the integration and optimization of mobile hydraulic systems. You will lead collaboration with domestic and international engineers, hydraulic component suppliers, and machine design teams to deliver innovative solutions aligned with vendor, client, and business needs across Mining machine applications.
This role offers a wide variety of projects spanning the full product development lifecycle — from concept through production — as well as field issue resolution and strategy initiatives. Occasional travel to suppliers, product group design centers, and dealer/customer sites may be required.
Key Contributions & Responsibilities
- Apply technical knowledge of hydraulic valve design methods, component materials, metrology, and technical specifications to ensure product performance, life expectancy, and machine integration meet application requirements.
- Draft detailed component requirements documents; objectively evaluate multiple solutions; complete design analysis and verification activities.
- Create and maintain project management plans; schedule and organize project deliverables; manage technical information protection and ensure program deadlines are met.
- Lead and participate in technical and commercial discussions with suppliers and internal teams; conduct design analysis reviews, specification reviews, and stakeholder approval reviews.
- Review engineering specifications and detailed drawings; make sketches, engineering drawings, and complete complex computations as required.
- Attend and/or conduct team meetings (primarily virtual) with internal product development teams and suppliers; align workday to core business hours to enable effective cross-functional and vendor collaboration.
Team Structure & Work Environment
- You will join a team of 5 direct-reporting engineers located in the US and 1 indirect-reporting engineer located in India, working collaboratively across time zones with internal product development teams and external hydraulic component suppliers.
- This is a fully on-site role at our Technical Center in Mossville, IL. Occasional travel to suppliers, product group design centers, and dealer/customer sites may be required.
Education & Experience
- 2–4 years of relevant experience required with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
- Top 3 Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills — able to lead and contribute to technical and stakeholder discussions with confidence.
- Critical thinking and analytical problem-solving — detail-oriented and innovative, with the ability to evaluate multiple solutions objectively.
- Project management — able to independently organize deliverables, manage schedules, and operate with urgency across multiple concurrent workstreams.
Required Technical Skills
- Understanding of the full product development lifecycle, from business/systems analysis and requirements gathering through development, testing, and delivery.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and analytical reports; ability to make sketches, engineering drawings, and complete complex computations.
- Experience with Creo or similar 3D modeling applications; advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and team collaboration tools.
Desired Technical Skills
- Working knowledge of hydraulic components or systems.

- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment; takes initiative in completing deliverables and manages time efficiently.
