Job description
We are looking for General Practitioners to join our project in DRC. If you have energy and passion and are looking for an exciting career overseas working as part of a multi-disciplined team, this could be the job for you.
Iqarus delivers intelligent and integrated healthcare solutions in complex and demanding operating environments. We deliver across the medical spectrum from primary care and occupational health to advanced pre-hospital trauma care, through to full-scale laboratory, radiological, diagnostic and surgical capabilities.
Duties and responsibilities:
- To provide safe clinical care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- To recognize and treat illness and minor injuries compatible with immediate return to
- work. To manage and stabilize trauma cases prior to evacuation to a higher level of care.
- To work with the client to provide medical examinations, vaccinations, and case reviews as needed.
- Pharmacy, and consumable stock control including minimum and maximum levels must be maintained. Controlled drug register is to be kept up to date.
- If an illness is serious, contagious, or requiring parenteral treatment, the patient will be escalated to the client medical officer and Regional Medical Director.
- Assist with casualties during a mass casualty incident as dictated by the Major Incident Plan. Inform the Regional Medical Officer if a major incident occurs.
- Support the delivery and administration of such training as required.
- Medical graduate, fully licensed, valid in the country of origin.
- At least 3 years of experience as a general practitioner including completion of a formalised post graduate training in general practice.
- Post-graduate experience in emergency medicine, prehospital medicine and or retrieval
- Current ACLS/ALS certification
- Current ATLS/ITLS/ETC/PHTLS certification
- Fluency in French is desirable.
Rotations are typically 6 weeks on duty and 6 weeks off duty, but dependent on the project. Flights, food and accommodation are provided whilst on duty at the project site.
