Job description

JOB GOAL: To provide leadership in developing and maintaining the best possible educational system and service.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promotes the success of every student by facilitating the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of a vision of learning that is shared and supported by all stakeholders.
  • Collaboratively develops and implements a shared vision and mission
  • Collects and uses data to identify goals, assesses organizational effectiveness, and promotes organizational learning

  • Promotes the success of every student by advocating, nurturing, and sustaining a school culture and instructional program conducive to student learning and staff professional growth.

  • Creates a comprehensive, rigorous, and coherent curricular program
  • Creates a personalized and motivating learning environment for students
  • Supervises instruction

  • Monitors and evaluates the management and operational systems
  • Obtains, allocates, aligns, and efficiently utilizes human, fiscal, and technological resources
  • Promotes and protects the welfare and safety of students and staff
  • Develops the capacity for distributed leadership
  • Ensures teacher and organizational time is focused to support quality instruction and student learning
  • Promotes the success of every student by collaborating with faculty and community members, responding to diverse community interests and needs, and mobilizing community resources.
  • Collects and analyzes data and information pertinent to the educational environment
  • Promotes understanding, appreciation, and use of the community’s diverse cultural, social, and intellectual resources
  • Builds and sustains positive relationships with families and caregivers
  • Builds and sustains productive relationships with community partners
  • Promotes the success of every student by acting with integrity, fairness, and in an ethical manner.

POSITION/TITLE: Principal

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 11 Months

SALARY: As per District Salary Schedule

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be certified in the State of Arizona as a principal and have all the coursework required to carry out the responsibilities fully and effectively.
  • An understanding and familiarity with Navajo/Hopi education and the particular situation, circumstances, and problems that are involved is preferred.
  • Arizona SEI Endorsement required (or must obtain within the first year).
  • Must have a proven successful employment record.
