Overview
a detail-oriented Telco Product Modeler to design, configure, and manage B2B telecom product models across enterprise systems. The role involves translating complex telecom offerings (connectivity, IoT, cloud, managed services) into structured product catalogs that support quoting, ordering, billing, and lifecycle management.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Product Modeling & Configuration
- Design and maintain B2B telecom product models in product catalog or CPQ systems.
- Define product structures, bundles, pricing logic, eligibility rules, and dependencies.
- Model offerings such as:
- Connectivity (MPLS, SD-WAN, IP VPN)
- Voice & Unified Communications
- IoT / M2M solutions
- Cloud & managed services
- Ensure product configurations align with business rules and customer requirements.
Catalog & Lifecycle Management
- Manage end-to-end product lifecycle from ideation to launch and retirement.
- Maintain product hierarchies, attributes, and commercial terms.
- Support versioning and governance of product catalog updates.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with:
- Product managers (for requirements)
- IT/architecture teams (for system integration)
- Sales/Pre-sales (for usability and quoting)
- Billing & operations (for downstream impacts)
- Translate business requirements into system-ready product models.
Pricing & Commercial Modeling
- Configure pricing structures:
- Recurring / non-recurring charges
- Usage-based pricing
- Tiered and volume discounts
- Support deal-specific customization within defined guardrails.
Systems & Tools
- Configure and maintain product models in tools such as:
- Product Catalog platforms (e.g., Amdocs, Netcracker, Ericsson Catalog Manager)
- CPQ tools (Salesforce CPQ, Oracle CPQ, Apttus)
- Order management systems
- Ensure integration with CRM, order fulfillment, and billing systems.
Quality & Governance
- Validate product configurations through testing (UAT, SIT).
- Ensure compliance with telecom standards (e.g., TM Forum SID/eTOM where applicable).
- Maintain documentation for product models and configurations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of telecom B2B products and services .
- Experience with product modeling, catalog management, or CPQ systems .
- Knowledge of telecom architectures and OSS/BSS ecosystems.
- Familiarity with pricing and billing concepts in telecom.
Domain Knowledge
- Enterprise telecom offerings (WAN, cloud connectivity, managed services).
- Order-to-cash lifecycle in telecom.
- Understanding of TM Forum frameworks (SID, eTOM, Open APIs) is a plus.
Soft Skills
