Job description
About Us: At Booking.com, data drives our decisions. Technology is at our core. And innovation is everywhere. But our company is more than datasets, lines of code or A/B tests. We’re the thrill of the first night in a new place. The excitement of the next morning. The friends you encounter. The journeys you take. The sights you see. And the memories you make. Through our products, partners and people, we make it easier for everyone to experience the world.
The Role: We are seeking a dynamic, strategic Compliance Learning & Advisory Lead to step into a high-impact, hybrid role. This isn't your standard "check-the-box" compliance position. We are looking for a professional with a unique mindset—someone who is equal parts risk manager and instructional designer, capable of viewing complex regulations through both a legal compliance lens and an adult learning lens.
In this role, you will independently own our global compliance learning lifecycle from concept to execution, while simultaneously serving as a trusted, functional compliance advisor to the business. You will bridge the gap between dense regulatory text and engaging, digital-first learning experiences, ensuring our teams are both fully compliant and genuinely learn from these interactions.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance Learning Lifecycle Lead
•
Concept to Execution: Project manage individually owned compliance learning initiatives from initial regulatory inception, legislative shift, or policy update through to global deployment and tracking.
•
Instructional Content Architecture: Conceptualize, draft, review, and maintain high-quality, digital-first compliance training materials (e-learning, micro-learning) and medium-complexity guidance documentation.
•
Live Facilitation & Delivery: Design and facilitate interactive, live or virtual regulatory training sessions and briefings for targeted business audiences, breaking down complex regulatory risk areas into digestible concepts.
•
Consultative Training Intake: Evaluate incoming stakeholder requests for mandatory training. Act as a consultative compliance officer by evaluating the underlying regulatory risk and steering them toward highly effective adult learning solutions over rigid data dumps.
Core Compliance Advisor & Business Consultant
•
Policy & Procedure Governance: Draft, advise on, and review corporate policies, operational procedures, and compliance program documentation (medium complexity and risk) to ensure alignment with regulatory standards.
•
Actionable Written Guidance: Provide clear, pragmatic, and actionable written advice, localized guides, and compliance communications for low-to-medium complexity risk areas.
•
Pragmatic Problem Solving: Resolve daily business compliance inquiries and operational issues with efficiency, speed, and pragmatism.
•
Innovative Optimizations: Apply creative, ethical approaches to Business-As-Usual (BAU) compliance topics to significantly increase program efficiency, optimize processes, and effectively manage business risk.
•
Risk Escalation Management: Provide clear, risk-based recommendations on matters of medium complexity to managers and leadership to enable robust, well-informed decision-making.
Skills and Experience required
•
4-6 years of experience in a foundational pillar of compliance and within a dedicated Learning & Development environment (ideally within a compliance/regulated tech function).
•
Proven track record of taking complex regulatory/legal concepts and successfully translating them into engaging, digestible learning content.
•
Proven project management experience managing end-to-end delivery timelines.
•
Dual-Hat Mindset: Equal parts educator and risk manager; able to view a regulation through both a legal compliance lens and an instructional designer’s lens.
•
Influencing & Stakeholder Management: Exceptional communication skills with the confidence to challenge senior stakeholders, change mindsets, and negotiate alternative solutions to "check-the-box" training.
•
Risk-Based Advisory: Ability to translate compliance requirements into actionable, clear learning advice and training documents of medium complexity.
•
Adult Learning Foundations: Solid understanding of instructional design methodologies, with the ability to confidently pitch modern learning techniques over rigid, compliance-heavy data dumps.
•
Constructive Challenging: Ability to engage with and influence business stakeholders, constructively pushing back on training requests to ensure they meet adult learning best practices.
•
Live Delivery: Confident presentation skills with experience facilitating live or virtual training sessions.
•
Pragmatic Innovation: A creative approach to looking at existing compliance training processes and finding minor or innovative ways to optimize them for efficiency.
•
Compliance Domain Expertise: Specialized knowledge across core compliance domains to provide holistic compliance advice to the business, independent of just training delivery.
