Job description
Department
Globus Sales & Marketing
About the Department
Job Summary
You enjoy developing a deep understanding about how products work and translating that knowledge to customer-facing solutions and value propositions. You have led a product marketing initiative from concept through launch, generating supporting content and iteratively refining customer messaging and calls-to-action. You enjoy interacting with actual users to learn about their challenges and develop potential solutions that leverage the product. You have worked in a cross-functional marketing environment and enjoy interacting with developers, customers, and internal sales and marketing teams. You appreciate the challenge of adapting a software platform to various markets, industry verticals, or research disciplines. You are naturally curious, and willing to learn by doing, while recognizing when you should collaborate with others in the organization. If some of these describe you, we’d love to chat!
You would be joining a customer team that comprises experienced, “multiple-hat wearers” with diverse skills, who own substantial initiatives and can deliver against strategic objectives with minimal supervision. While the Globus platform has been around in various forms for over 25 years, we are still a very small team that operates like a software startup. Success in this role will be demonstrated by: delivering a refreshed messaging framework covering target personas such as researchers, system administrators, and application developers; authoring high-quality content assets (case studies, whitepapers, or solution briefs) with minimal revision cycles; supporting product feature launches end-to-end, from messaging through collateral to post-launch metrics; managing multi-channel marketing and communications programs; and establishing a repeatable market intelligence process that informs our sales and marketing efforts.
Responsibilities
Content Creation & Technical Writing:
Author white papers, case studies, technical blog posts, how-to guides, and solution briefs targeted at different personas, collaborating with the Globus customer and engineering teams.
Develop feature-level and product-level messaging that accurately reflects Globus capabilities including data transfer, sharing, computation, and task automation, as well as developer-focused tools and APIs.
Create onboarding and "getting started" content that reduces friction for new users across all audience segments.
Provides expertise to marketing communications, advertising, or publicity strategy. Plans and coordinates the development and production of marketing campaigns, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met. Designs, writes, and edits high profile or high visibility marketing materials, which may include press releases, book jacket copy, blogs, or other Web material.
Positioning & Messaging:
Develop differentiated value propositions for Globus relative to alternative data management approaches and platforms.
Craft persona-specific messaging such as operational/security value for IT and sysadmins, and productivity/workflow value for researchers.
Ensure consistency of product narrative across the website, documentation, conference materials, and social channels.
Go-to-Market Support:
Partner with the product and customer teams to plan and execute marketing for new feature releases and major platform updates.
Lead marketing efforts in new market development.
Lead reseller and partner marketing efforts.
Develop launch collateral including release announcements, demo scripts, FAQs, and explainer videos.
Define adoption metrics and track feature usage and activation across both free users (to generate subscriber leads) and paid subscribers (to promote broader adoption and recognize value).
Market Intelligence:
Monitor trends in research computing, HPC, cloud storage, and data-intensive science to inform positioning strategy.
Conduct ongoing market research and analysis to inform outreach and communication efforts, as well as product direction.
Community & Evangelist Activities:
Represent Globus at research computing conferences (Supercomputing, PEARC, Internet2, etc.) as a credible voice at the intersection of customers and Globus products.
Engage with developer and sysadmin communities through forums, webinars, and user group events.
Collaborate with the Globus user community to surface case studies and testimonials that demonstrate real-world impact.
Participate in developing new products and services, and determining new markets. Acts as a resource for and trains lower level marketing staff. Attends trade shows as needed.
Manages relationships with external sales agencies.
Performs other work as assigned.
