Job description

We are hiring a Compensation & Total Rewards Lead (Contract) to support a leading consulting firm on a high-impact compensation benchmarking and structure review initiative across the US and Canada.

If you’ve worked in compensation analytics, enjoy digging into large datasets, and know how to turn market data into clear pay structures, this is a strong opportunity to step into a highly visible, strategic project.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Conduct market benchmarking across salary, bonus, and total rewards programs
  • Analyze compensation data across US and Canada consulting markets (Life, P&C, Health actuarial space)
  • Build structured salary ranges by practice, role, level, and credential progression (ASA, FSA, exam pathways)
  • Review internal compensation data for equity, compression, and market alignment issues
  • Identify outliers and inconsistencies in pay structures and progression paths
  • Support development of compensation frameworks and guidelines used across the organization
  • Evaluate broader total rewards programs including benefits, incentives, and exam support
  • Present findings and recommendations to HR leadership and senior stakeholders
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and compensation tools for ongoing use
  • 5+ years of experience in compensation, HR analytics, finance, or total rewards
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, modeling, large dataset analysis)
  • Experience working with compensation survey data and benchmarking tools
  • Background in consulting, insurance, actuarial, or professional services environments preferred
  • Strong analytical and data storytelling skills
  • Ability to translate complex data into clear compensation recommendations

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience with actuarial compensation structures (ASA, FSA, exam-based progression)
  • Exposure to consulting firm compensation models
  • Experience building salary bands or compensation frameworks from scratch
  • Strong executive-facing presentation skills (PowerPoint storytelling)
