JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: RECEPTIONIST – CENTRAL OFFICE
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of one (1) year of computer experience
- Word processing skills required
- Experience in filing and record-keeping
- Demonstrated competence in the use of business machines
- Demonstrated telephone skills
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable
REPORTS TO: Superintendent
JOB GOALS: To assist in ensuring maximum effectiveness in the operation of the offices of the Board of Education
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Expected work day: Eight (8) hours.
- Regular and punctual attendance required.
- Provide clerical support for supervisors assigned.
- Monitor visitors for security purposes.
- Type from straight copy/rough draft.
- Use copy machines and other business machines.
- Compile and type statistical and written reports.
- File-alphabetic, subject, numeric, and geographic.
- Answer telephone calls and route incoming, outgoing, and interoffice calls as required.
- Meet and assist visitors in a helpful, courteous and professional manner.
- Assist parents and others in acquiring information and making contact with the appropriate Central Office Personnel.
- Compose and type letters of transmittal and routine letters of inquiry, requests, and information.
- Open and sort mail, collect and distribute parcels, transmit and deliver facsimiles, update calendars, prepare travel vouchers, and perform basic bookkeeping as assigned.
- Assist with work permits and required reports to the State as assigned.
- Substitute for employees in other Central Office departments as assigned.
- Maintain the confidentiality of any school system related information.
- Maintain proper and professional relationships.
- Perform duties in a manner that promotes good public relations.
- Follow Board policies and procedures.
- Possess visual acuity.
- Possess physical ability to carry items under 25 pounds.
- Possess physical and emotional ability and dexterity as needed to perform assigned tasks in a fast-paced, high intensive work environment.
- Perform other reasonable job-related duties as might be assigned by supervisors.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve Month contract. NON-EXEMPT EMPLOYEE.
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Support personnel evaluation system and Board policy.
SALARY: Appropriate placement on current salary schedule.
