The Team
AQR is seeking an experienced client-facing professional to join our Business Development Team in Hong Kong with the goal of expanding AQR’s relationships with regional and global Private Banks throughout Asia. AQR clients include Wealth & Private Bank partners as well as a cross-section of the world’s largest institutional investors, including public and corporate pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, and foundations and endowments.
The successful candidate will develop a deep understanding of our products and communicate investment strategy and performance to distribution partners throughout Asia. Close collaboration with Hong Kong colleagues and with AQR’s global research, portfolio management, business development and client service teams will be necessary to ensure a high level of service to investors.
Your Role
- Identify, cultivate, and develop new business opportunities across wealth management firms, private banks, and other intermediary distribution channels in Asia.
- Serve as a key point of contact for existing distribution partners and provide after-sales service to help drive strong client retention and relationship expansion.
- Engage in direct verbal, written and interpersonal communication with clients and colleagues to confidently articulate and communicate ideas, portfolio updates, and other relevant information.
- Develop in-depth knowledge of AQR’s investment strategies; speak confidently and credibly across a wide range of strategies and products.
- Maintain highly consultative and solutions-based discussions with existing and prospective clients; serve as a strategic advisor in communicating our product offerings while addressing broader asset allocation needs.
- Significant involvement in business strategy including new product development and new business lines.
- Monitor and understand industry trends; proactively leverage internal resources to stay top of mind and relevant with investors.
What You’ll Bring
The successful candidate will be an experienced client-facing professional or product specialist with a minimum of seven to ten years’ experience working for a private bank, wealth manager, or investment management firm.
- Bachelor’s degree: concentrations in Economics, Finance, Marketing, or Business preferred; advanced degree is a plus.
- Established network within the wealth management and private banking ecosystem.
- 5–10 years of proven success raising assets and achieving fundraising targets across wealth management and intermediary channels in Asia, with demonstrated excellence in client retention, relationship development, and high-quality post-sale client servicing.
- Experience with a diverse suite of products, including equities and liquid alternatives (hedge funds). Familiar with a range of investment approaches, including quantitative/systematic approaches.
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage client relationships and originate new business opportunities.
- Strong commercial acumen with a disciplined, process-oriented approach to pipeline management.
- Technical grounding in investment strategies and portfolio construction; ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.
- Team-oriented professional with a collaborative mindset and demonstrated ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
- Knowledge of finance and the investment management industry.
- Business fluent in Mandarin and English (written and spoken) is required.
- Experience at global private bank(s) preferred.
- Based in Hong Kong.
