Job Family Definition:
Designs, develops, troubleshoots, and debugs software programs for software enhancements and new products. Develops software, including operating systems, File Systems, Transaction management and fault-tolerant data management.
Management Level Definition:
Contributions include applying developed subject-matter expertise to solve common and sometimes complex technical problems and recommending alternatives when necessary. Exercises independent judgment and consults with others to determine the best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives.
What you’ll do:
- Design, develop, and maintain the OS internals related to Disk IOs for the HPE Nonstop platform.
- Develop and enhance solutions to ensure data integrity and high availability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including storage, File System, SQL database and QA, to deliver robust and reliable solutions.
- Analyze and resolve complex system-level issues related to disk IOs, data integrity and fault-tolerance.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and performance tuning.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and automation of development and testing processes.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work in high-availability, zero-downtime Operating System environments
- Clear communication and documentation skills
- Ownership mindset and ability to work cross-functionally
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or a related field.
- 6+ years of experience in systems programming, preferably in storage or File System development.
- Strong programming skills in C/C++ and assembly language.
- Experience with Nonstop OS (OSS/Guardian) or other fault-tolerant systems is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with kernel-level programming, memory management and transaction management.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong understanding of:
- Operating system concepts (processes, memory management, scheduling, synchronization)
- File system internals and I/O stack behavior
- Inter-process communication and concurrency models
- Experience with system-level programming and debugging
- Proficiency in debugging tools, dumps, and root-cause analysis in complex low-level software
- Familiarity with monitoring tools and performance analysis utilities
- Experience with version control systems (e.g. GitHub).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
