Job description

Material Bank is the world’s largest material marketplace for the architecture and design industry. Operating in 37 countries, our platform has become the standard for design professionals around the globe. Every day, Material Bank connects thousands of designers with tens of thousands of materials from leading brands. Material Bank is the fastest and most powerful way for design professionals to search, sample, and specify materials.

As the Director of Product, you’ll lead and drive key areas of the Material Bank platform, creating real value for the brands that power the marketplace while also operating broadly where the platform and business require it. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role with meaningful ownership of a core product area, for someone who understands that operating at scale is its own discipline. You will partner closely with the Head of Product to shape direction and ensure strong execution, working with engineering, design, sales, and marketing to move quickly, make sound decisions, and ship meaningful work.

You will join at a pivotal moment as we launch MB3, our next-generation platform, a ground-up rebuild designed to make Material Bank faster, smarter, and more valuable for every stakeholder. This role will play a key part in shaping, launching, and iterating on MB3, ensuring the product delivers meaningful impact for both sides of the marketplace.

To succeed, you must be equally comfortable contributing to product strategy and driving execution at a high level of quality. You understand marketplace dynamics from both sides and take pride in driving measurable business outcomes, not just shipping features. This role is built for a product leader who can bring clarity to ambiguity, connect product decisions to business impact, and raise the bar within their domain and across the team. Ideal candidate will be located in Raleigh, North Carolina (Hybrid) or Boston, MA (Remote).

What You'll Do

  • Own the product experience for brands and suppliers on the platform, including onboarding, catalog management, analytics, visibility, and other core workflows
  • Partner with marketing to define and build product capabilities that support demand generation and measurable business growth
  • Partner closely with customer success teams to identify friction, unlock growth opportunities, and drive adoption, engagement, and retention
  • Shape and influence the broader platform roadmap, raising the bar on quality, scalability, and capability across the business
  • Play a key role in the MB3 platform relaunch, owning major product initiatives during a critical period of transformation
  • Contribute to revenue and monetization strategy, with a seat at the table as growth opportunities are being shaped
  • Operate across both strategic planning and day-to-day execution, ensuring the team is focused on the highest-impact work and consistently delivering results
  • Use rapid prototyping and AI tools to accelerate product development, validate ideas early, and improve team velocity
  • Raise the effectiveness of the team by sharing tools, workflows, and best practices that make the entire organization faster and more effective

What You'll Bring

  • 7+ years of experience in product management, including meaningful experience in a senior or lead capacity
  • Strong technical background with proven experience in B2B SaaS, marketplace, or platform products, with a clear understanding of multi-sided dynamics and value creation on both sides of the marketplace
  • Strong commercial instincts, with the ability to connect product decisions naturally to revenue and business outcomes
  • Hands-on approach to leadership — someone who not only sets direction but also does the work
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to move quickly and influence cross-functional teams without relying on formal authority
  • High level of self-sufficiency, with the ability to pick up a problem, ask the right questions once, and drive it forward independently
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a strong ability to create clarity and momentum without waiting for permission
  • Experience in design, architecture, creative industries, or working with manufacturers and material brands is a plus, but not required

What you’ll get from us:

  • Our people: We are a growth-driven team that values efficiency, builds smart automation, operates in small empowered teams, and moves quickly from idea to execution.
  • Relaxation and Celebrations: Flexible PTO, Sick Days, Paid National Holidays, and even more (ask us about this when we connect).
  • Health Benefits: We contribute to your medical, dental, vision and short-term/long-term disability plans and have a strong employee assistance program.
  • Plan for your Retirement: 401(k) eligible after your first 90 day's employed!
  • Giving Back: We sponsor multiple events throughout the year to help out our communities.
  • Growth: We’ll help you take your career to the next level. We want you to be creative and take initiative which will allow you to grow and create within the company. Most importantly, be the best at what matters!
  • Flexible Work Schedules: With business units and employees across the globe, Material Technologies has embraced a hybrid working model allowing department leaders to decide on the best approach for their respective teams, whether that be remote, in person, or a little of both.

Material Bank is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We value diversity, and all applicants will be considered for employment without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, national origin, veteran or disability status or other status protected under any applicable federal, state or local law.
