DevOps / Cloud Engineer (GCP / Kubernetes)
Location: Kraków, Poland (hybrid model – minimum 2 days per week in the office) Contract Type: B2B / Contract Seniority: Senior
About the Project
We are looking for an experienced DevOps / Cloud Engineer to join an international technology team delivering a strategic cloud transformation initiative.
The project focuses on migrating and operating a large-scale microservices platform in Google Cloud Platform, supporting over 100 services running on Kubernetes. You will work closely with application teams to onboard workloads onto the target platform while helping to build and evolve automation, observability, and reliability capabilities across the environment.
We follow a “You build it, you run it” mindset, emphasizing small, low-risk, and frequent production releases, strong operational ownership, and continuous improvement
Key Responsibilities
- Engineer, maintain, and improve a Kubernetes platform running on Google Cloud Platform.
- Support application teams in migrating and deploying microservices to Kubernetes.
- Design, build, and standardize CI/CD pipelines for containerized applications.
- Implement and enhance observability solutions, including monitoring, logging, and distributed tracing.
- Develop dashboards, alerting strategies, and service reliability reporting.
- Participate in production support activities, incident management, root cause analysis, and platform improvement initiatives.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and environment management using Infrastructure as Code.
- Collaborate effectively with globally distributed engineering teams.
- Produce technical documentation and contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Required Skills & Experience
- Several years of experience in a DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Cloud Engineering role.
- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes, including:
- Deployments
- Services
- Ingress
- ConfigMaps
- Secrets
- Production troubleshooting
- Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GKE experience preferred).
- Practical experience deploying and supporting Java and Python applications in containerized environments.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD principles and tooling.
- Experience with observability and monitoring solutions such as:
- Prometheus
- Grafana
- Loki
- Tempo or OpenTelemetry
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform.
- Strong operational mindset with a focus on reliability, incident response, and continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in international teams.
- Fluent English, both written and spoken.
Nice to Have
- Experience with GCP services such as:
- IAM
- VPC
- Cloud Logging
- Cloud Monitoring
- Artifact Registry
- Helm chart development and standardization.
- Experience with Istio or other service mesh technologies.
- Knowledge of container security best practices and tooling.
- Previous involvement in large-scale cloud migration or platform modernization programs.
