As Global Service Manager – Workshops & Field Services, you will support the implementation of the service strategy and enable service growth across workshop and field service operations globally.

You will lead the development and standardization of workshop and field service practices across ABB’s Motors & Generators service network. Working at the intersection of global strategy and regional execution, you will strengthen service capabilities, ensure consistent ways of working across the global network, and support continuous improvement across countries and regions.

This is a collaborative and influence-based role, where you will work across organizational levels. Your focus will be on enabling, guiding, and aligning teams rather than direct operational responsibility.

A key part of the role is to build and maintain a global service support framework, connecting workshops and field service teams with a structured network of experts and enabling knowledge sharing across the service community.

Location

This role is open globally, with preferred locations in our key service locations: Vittuone (Italy), Helsinki (Finland), Spain (Madrid) or Västerås (Sweden). The work model is hybrid #LI-hybrid, with international travel required, depending on business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and develop global standards, processes, and best practices for workshop and field service operations
  • Lead the certification and audit framework for ABB and 3rd party workshops, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement
  • Establish and develop a global network of certified workshops, including onboarding and capability development
  • Build and maintain a global support framework, connecting teams with a structured network of experts
  • Work closely with Regional Service Managers to align priorities and direction, and partner with local service units to implement improvement plans, strengthening capabilities and contributing to regional business performance
  • Support program tracking and cross-functional coordination to ensure alignment with service strategy

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in Service Management or Operations
  • 10+ years of experience in a technical, service, or engineering role in an international or matrix organization
  • Strong understanding of motors and generators or rotating equipment and related service practices
  • Experience with certification processes, audits, compliance frameworks, and quality standards
  • Experience in developing service networks, workshop capabilities, or global service programs
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence without direct authority
  • Fluency in English, with willingness to travel internationally as per business needs
