Job description

Vaco is hiring a Sr. Financial Analyst for our client in Mt Prospect, IL.

About the Role

Seeking an experienced and highly analytical Senior Financial Analyst to join the North America FP&A team. This key position will serve as a strategic business partner to the Business Unit (BU) leadership, playing a central role in developing and maintaining the five-year strategic plan, annual budget, and ongoing financial forecasting. The ideal candidate will be a self-driven finance professional with strong business acumen, experience in manufacturing, distribution, or the automotive industry, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and continuous refinement of the BU’s 5-Year Strategic Plan , Annual Budget , Forecasts , Operating Plans , and Financial Models .
  • Independently monitor performance indicators , including revenues, expenses, inventories, etc.
  • Compile and analyze monthly actuals and variance reports , collaborating with Accounting (AR, AP, GL, Tax) and Customer Service teams.
  • Present financial results and strategic insights to leadership in monthly business reviews, including recommendations on actions and optimizations aligned with organizational goals.
  • Drive process improvements by streamlining and standardizing reporting and data flows , improving timeliness and accuracy.
  • Support and contribute to project implementation , including financial data integration.
  • Assist the Director with monthly performance reviews with Senior Management.
  • Handle ad hoc projects and strategic initiatives .

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Statistics (CPA preferred).
  • Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience in FP&A, ideally in automotive, shipping/distribution, or manufacturing industries.
  • Strong command of financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting .
  • High proficiency in Excel (Power Query, Power Pivot, XLOOKUP, VBA, etc.).
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Navision).
  • Demonstrated experience with Business Intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau, Pyramid).
  • Must be a highly independent, self-managed professional
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
