With one of the largest multimedia air and land permitting and compliance teams in the country, we support client success in manufacturing and industry, liquids delivery and processing, natural gas storage and delivery, power generation and delivery, and transportation projects.
POSITION SUMMARY
TRC is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated GIS Analyst to provide technical support for clients, and fellow TRC staff. The GIS Analyst must have a minimum of 4 year(s) of experience applying GIS technology to answer questions and solve problems.
The successful candidate must
- have excellent communication and organizational skills to work as a member of a larger GIS team to complete project tasks.
- collaborate with project managers, clients, and GIS staff to ensure that quality and timely GIS support is provided on all projects.
- keep abreast with current GIS technology and be responsible for discovering and implementing new technology with assistance from other members of the TRC GIS team.
- be self-motivated and able to work independently with supervision from a GIS Manager.
- can manage multiple projects needs concurrently, and in a time-sensitive manner
The applicant should demonstrate proficiency and experience using GIS software including but not limited to ESRI's ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS for Desktop 10.8+ suite and the implementation and development of Web based GIS platforms using ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS
- General geographic data creation, editing, and analysis
- Develop and manage enterprise GIS databases, web maps, and mobile apps
- Production of figures for a variety of environmental reports
- Desktop analysis of environmental constraints data such as soils, hydrologic features, land cover, public lands, etc. for planning field surveys or agency application submittals
- Query geographic data for information to be used in reports/proposals
- Work interactively with data from CAD platforms and other geospatial data sources
- Collaborate with other TRC staff to improve project methodologies and deliverables
- Exploring and implementing new technology to support other TRC staff and clients
- Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Computer Science, or other related discipline.
- A minimum of 4-years GIS or related work experience.

- Required GIS Competencies
- Data Entry/Conversion: Able to convert data from multiple sources and formats (CAD, GIS, GPS, image, text, etc.) to a common format or common schema. Able to enter and edit data successfully with minimal errors.
- Cartography and Graphic Design: Able to express graphically, usually through maps, the features within a GIS.
- Advanced GIS Analysis/Model Building/Visual Simulations: Able to utilize GIS applications to perform advanced spatial analysis or data conversion or manipulation. i.e. raster/surface manipulation, mosaic, modify and repurpose imagery for other software. Able to use applications and scripts to create automated geoprocessing workflows. Able to perform visual simulations, renderings, and visual impact analysis using industry standard applications.
- Geodatabase Development & Design / Data Models: Able to utilize GIS applications to build a GIS, i.e. data mining, geodatabase design, data conversion, etc. Able to define data requirements needed to support business processes.
- GPS Device/Applications: Able to configure and troubleshoot various GPS devices and mobile data collection applications.
- Application of GIS/Problem Solving: Able to translate client needs to solutions using GIS technology. Able to identify the best tool for the job based on experience and knowledge of what is possible.
- Web Application Development: Able to create interactive ESRI web applications within ArcGIS Online and an Enterprise Portal. Able to extend tools using custom scripts and/or expressions is a plus.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Programming and SQL Languages: Able to use multiple programming languages to create useful applications or tools for interacting with data within a GIS. Able to apply SQL programming language to communicate with and manipulate databases
Travel and Workplace
- The GIS Analyst position is full remote. However, location within a reasonable travel distance to a TRC office is preferred. Occasional travel for customer visits or training may be required.
