Job Title: Academy Head Coach
Department: FCC Academy
Reports to: Academy Director
Job Summary
The Academy Head Coach is responsible for the development of elite talent within the FCC Academy program, preparing players to transition into the Academy's senior age groups and ultimately to FCC2 and the First Team. Working in close collaboration with the Academy Director, this role oversees all aspects of player development for their age category, including roster selection, style of play integration, mental and physical preparation, and curriculum development and delivery. This position will work mainly in the U13-U15 age groups.
What You’ll Do:
- Be responsible for leading training for Academy team in accordance with FCC training principles and methodology
- Manage training schedules, plan and document training sessions, and maintain accurate records of all training activities.
- Assess performance and skill development for each Academy player and schedule evaluations on a regular basis
- Formulate an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) for each Academy player on his team
- Assists in advising college placement for all Academy players in conjunction with other Academy coaches
- Assess performance of Academy players to evaluate when best developmentally to move players up for games and trainings to older age groups
- Work towards the successful implementation of the Club Performance Plan and set the standard for the club in terms of knowledge and work ethic
- Be proactive in seeking educational opportunities to grow as a coach and to help with the development of the club
- Assist when needed with development opportunities of players outside the Academy system
- Interact with members of the public and soccer community in a positive and respectful way as to protect and enhance the brand
- Attend as necessary, events when needed to promote FCC programs or act as a Club ambassador
- The Academy Coach will maintain and develop relationships with strategic youth soccer partners in the community
- Lead the Academy program in implanting and following the MLS Next Safe Sport & Wellbeing policies and procedures
- Off-field responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Curriculum development
- Video analysis
- General administrative duties
- Assist in management of player records and files
- Attendance at all scheduled meetings
- Other duties as assigned
What You’ll Bring:
- Broad soccer related background
- Demonstrated organizational, communicative, and practical knowledge and delivery of soccer specific content
- Demonstrated administrative and organizational abilities to manage multiple programs and priorities, including event planning, player welfare concerns, and academy administrative needs as assigned
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- A positive and respectful demeanor to interact and work with other departments within the Club
- When called upon, the Coach will be asked to attend functions or events and as such must always be positive and respectful in all interactions at such events
What You’ll Need:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) helpful but not required
- USSF “B” Coaching License or better required
- 5+ years of coaching experience
- Professional playing background preferred
