Abbott Diabetes Care has opened a new site, in Kilkenny, that is at the forefront of Diabetes care with the latest technology, to manufacture FreeStyle blood glucose test strips and FreeStyle Sensors for use in diabetes management. Among Abbott Diabetes Care leading brands are the FreeStyle Precision, FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Libre systems.

As the Facilities Manager you will be responsible for the leadership, strategic direction, and execution of hard and soft services for the Abbott Kilkenny manufacturing site. This includes strategic facility planning and day-to-day management, the design, planning, planning, construction and maintenance of equipment, machinery, and buildings. In addition to planning and budgeting for all facility projects. In this role you will be responsible for coordinating and implementing facility/utility projects in an environment of continuous improvement, ensuring the site delivers safe and effective products that meet customer needs whilst maintaining compliance.
Responsibilities
•
Planning of future facility activities, budgets , projects, and day to day site operations.
•
Sourcing and maintaining all relevant facilities equipment and services, including cost, schedule and performance.
•
Ensure sustained reliability of the Plant facilities including maintenance, repair, and improvement of Site facilities, (both internal and external).
•
Identify opportunities for new technology and driving continuous improvement
•
Maintain data management methods, procedures, and reports for all facilities functions.
•
Participate in and support the progress of failure/quality/customer complaint investigations and report on implementation of CAPAs assigned to the process area.
•
Coordinate and contribute to the design of SOPs, protocols, specifications, and validation documentation.
•
Continuous improvement of the plant’s Environmental, Health and Safety performance.
•
Provide direction, training, and development of the Facilities team.
Qualifications and Experience
•
minimum 6 years relevant experience in a similar industry.
•
Degree Qualified in Engineering or related degree.
•
Strong background in Facilities Management, preferably in a regulated environment.
•
People Management experience.
•
Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices and facilities management software/tools.
•
Lean six sigma qualified (desirable) green belt or black belt.
•
Experience establishing programs.
•
Strong Problem Solving.
•
Communication and influencing skills
