Overview
GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Center Residential Advisor is responsible for providing a safe, supportive, and predictable environment for Talking Leaves Job Corps students. They supervise daily activities, monitor progress in attaining performance contract goals, and assist students in adjusting to Center Life. Serves as role model for the student regarding behavior and character.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating
- Must possess a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certification or obtain within 180 days of employment and maintain throughout employment.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for childcare.
Hours: Wednesday through Sunday - 11:30pm - 8:00am
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Supervise students and maintain a safe, secure, and positive residential environment in accordance with the Department of Labor's Policy Requirements Handbook. • Ensure dormitory living areas remain orderly, clean, well‑maintained and welcoming. • Provide supervision in the cafeteria, during special activities, and in other assigned program areas. • Identify and assist students with personal, behavioral, or situational concerns; conduct dormitory meetings as required. • Build supportive working relationships with students and motivate them toward achieving personal and program goals. • Maintain ongoing communication with counselors, instructors, and other staff to support student progress. • Attend required staff in‑service training sessions, meetings, and PRH‑mandated training. • Ensure case notes, shift logs, MARS/MORS entries, and all documentation are accurate, complete, and submitted in a timely manner. • Provides instruction, guidance, and hands‑on support to help students develop essential independent living skills, including personal care, household management, and daily decision‑making. • Maintain a consistently safe environment for students and staff and ensure buildings remain secure. • Transport students to scheduled activities and events assigned. • Make referrals to counselors or wellness staff when appropriate. • Conduct periodic dorm room checks and maintains order and discipline within residential areas. • Ensures ongoing compliance by staying up to date with all changes, amendments and guidance in the PRH which is accessible at any time. • Maintains good housekeeping practice in all assigned areas and follows all safety standards. • Comply with all Department of Labor guidelines, PRH requirements, Center policies and procedures, and Cherokee Nation Human Resources policies.
LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY • No direct reports are assigned to this role. • Well-established and follow clear procedures. • Organizes own work and sets own processes.
