Overview

Part Time Position

7am-7pm

The Emergency Medical Technician performs and documents direct routine patient care under licensed provider's supervision according to hospitals guidelines.

Responsibilities

Age of Patients Served: All Age Groups.

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED or Vocational Training

Required Licensure/Certifications: Current Florida EMT license -OR- current Florida Paramedic license BLS from the American Heart Association

Required Experience: Less than 1 of practical clinical experience.

Preferred Experience: 1 or more years previous experience in a health care environment.

Necessary Skills

  • Knowledge of patient care and basic human needs within life span.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of aseptic techniques
  • Knowledge of acute and chronic disease processes
  • Knowledge of standard universal precautions
  • Basic knowledge of anatomic structure and human body systems
  • Ability to recognize obvious job-related emergencies
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to read and write in English
  • Recognition of lethal EKG rhythms
  • Performance of electrocardiograms
  • IV insertion
  • Urinary catheter insertion
  • Gastric tube insertion
  • Phlebotomy
  • Basic wound care
  • Splinting of musculoskeletal injuries
  • Automatic External Defibrillator operation
  • Chest compressions
  • Eye irrigation
