The Opportunity

The Asset Management Specialist forms part of the asset optimisation team and undertakes the asset optimisation function. The Asset Management Specialist reports directly to the Engineering Manager to assure delivery of the Asset Optimisation Program activities in accordance with the area requirements and the approved Asset Management Plan.

The Asset Management Specialist holds an Engineering delegation, executes risk based technical advice on sustainment optimisation activities in support of the Principal Engineer (PE).

This is a permanent full-time opportunity and based in Sydney .

The successful candidate must hold a Baseline security clearance or higher .

Responsibilities

Lead PO data cleansing and validation activities across MSD, including closing redundant or inactive POs and correcting data anomalies

Lead and deliver asset optimisation activities, including stakeholder supervision, integration planning, and alignment with program schedules.

Drive continuous process improvements to enhance system reliability, availability, and maintainability within contract boundaries.

Monitor optimisation progress, proactively resolve delays, and manage critical or at-risk tasks to keep delivery on track.

Identify, report, and mitigate risks such as resource constraints, schedule conflicts, and system issues in collaboration with the Engineering Manager.

Conduct root cause analysis and condition monitoring to identify failure modes and implement corrective maintenance and engineering improvements.

Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to refine designs, maintenance strategies, specifications, and develop cost-effective reliability improvement business cases.

Ensure compliance, governance, and documentation standards are met while fostering strong cross-functional relationships, stakeholder engagement, and a safe, integrated team environment.

As the ideal candidate you will bring

Demonstrated experience in Reliability, Availability & Maintainability (RAM) and FMECA, with at least 5 years of practical application in engineering projects.

Strong experience in Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) and Level of Repair Analysis (LORA).

Proven ability to analyse system needs and requirements, translating them into clear, actionable engineering specifications.

Sound judgement in making engineering decisions within complex regulatory environments, ensuring safe and compliant operations.

Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and relationship-building capabilities with both clients and internal teams.

Experience supporting reliability outcomes through lifecycle analysis, including Life Cycle Cost (LCC) analysis and spares modelling (desirable).

Relevant qualifications and industry exposure, such as an engineering degree (or equivalent), change management experience, defence industry background, and eligibility for ITAR clearance.

All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active Baseline Defence Security Clearance. Only candidates holding a Baseline Clearance or above should apply.
